Honestly, I have the same question. I have very few names that I truly do not care for, many just fall into the neutral category. [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] falls in the do not care for at all category. I do not care for the look or the sound, a scar let/lit, neither are attractive. The image I picture isn’t that positive either. The color makes me think of blood.
When princess [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] was born a few years ago the name [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] shot up in popularity. I think [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] floated up with it because it is similar, but a little more ‘edgy’ sounding.
It’s sassy, spunky, vintage, classy, and has a strong sound. Not to mention it’s a literary name, and has a real southern charm to it. Also similar in sound to [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Carly[/name_f], and [name_f]Cara[/name_f]. It’s one of my favorite names that I can’t use. I know of a little [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] born in [name_u]March[/name_u] who is adorable!
I wonder that too. There are certain names ending in -ett/-ette that do appeal to me, like [name_f]Colette[/name_f] or [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]. But there are others, like [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] or [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], that don’t appeal to me AT ALL. And because of that, it makes me question how it could be so popular. [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] always makes me think of tiny scars, which is not a pleasant thought. I love Gone With the Wind, but that doesn’t make me like the name [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]. I’m assuming that’s why it’s so popular, because of Gone With the Wind.
I believe [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]'s popularity in the recent years is largely down to the actress [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] Johansson.
Names ending in T are trending, for boys and girls.

Also [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] is a color name that has good imagery.
I agree that it’s because of [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] Johansson. I think of it as similar to [name_f]Stella[/name_f] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], kind of a dramatic name.
I can NOT get past the ‘Gone With The Wind’ connection so don’t like the name [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]. No, not at all.
