I’m 9 weeks pregnant and I’ve had TWO dreams that it was a girl!! Yippee! Last pregnancy I had boy dreams and it was right!
So, a million girl names have come and gone and in my dream last night her name was [name]Margo[/name]. I think it’s a great name, but don’t like the fact that sometimes when I say it it sounds a little bit like [name]Marco[/name].
Wanted to hear your thoughts on the name and possible middles. I have a son [name]Jesse[/name], do these names sound silly together? I know it’s not a perfect pairing, but I do like the name. I was thinking [name]Margo[/name] [name]Madeline[/name], something along those lines. I want something really fun to say.
Individually, [name]Jesse[/name] and [name]Margo[/name] are different in style but together, they sound great. [name]Jesse[/name] is country western and [name]Margo[/name] plays into that. I could picture a woman named [name]Margo[/name] working on a cattle ranch or something out west.
[name]Margo[/name] [name]Madeline[/name] is pretty, especially if you’re pronouncing it -line, not -lynn.
I love [name]Margo[/name] and it is one of my Mom’s faves.
It does kinda sound like [name]Margo[/name] but other than that, there’s no issues.
I think [name]Margo[/name] and [name]Jesse[/name] aren’t perfect together like you said but they aren’t horrible.
I adore [name]Madeline[/name]!!
As for names that are fun to say, I think it differs from person to person.
Thanks for the feedback. I’m glad to hear that you guys don’t think that [name]Jesse[/name] & [name]Margo[/name] are a no-go. I had [name]Jesse[/name] & [name]Vivian[/name] as a sibset once, but they sounded like kids from two different families. I’m starting to get excited about [name]Margo[/name]!!! :))

Thank you so much for pointing out the go/jo thing. I know that would have been my husband’s first choice, I’m going to cross it off the list.
I like [name]Margo[/name] and I like it with [name]Jesse[/name] as well.
I like combos that are fun to say also. My first thought was [name]Margo[/name] [name]Melinda[/name] and that’s on your list, I really love [name]Margo[/name] [name]Mariana[/name] though!
[name]Margo[/name] [name]Madeline[/name] is a lot of fun as well.
[name]Margo[/name] [name]Mallory[/name] might be too out there, but I like it.
[name]Margo[/name] [name]Faye[/name] is very lux sounding, I love that one!
I did some digging to see where [name]Margo[/name] actually falls, in terms of popularity: last year (well, actually, in 2011, since they haven’t released the 2012 stats yet) there were 98 girls named [name]Margo[/name] born in the United States. That puts it far enough out of the top 1000 that I didn’t feel like bothering to count out its exact rank. However, if you combine the popularities of [name]Margot[/name], [name]Margo[/name], [name]Margaux[/name], and Margeaux (listed from most popular to least popular), [name]Margot[/name] and its variants end up ranking right about 750. (Realistically, using the method of combining sound-alike names in the stats, it may even be higher: doing the same for names like [name]Sophia[/name] & [name]Sofia[/name], [name]Chloe[/name] & [name]Khloe[/name] & Clow-ee [or whatever] would almost certainly clear out some room in the top 1000.)
I really like [name]Margo[/name]! I used to favor the [name]Margot[/name] spelling, but now I’m torn: I like the roundness of the ‘o’ ending, and [name]Margo[/name] seems to have a bit more of an edge to it. Of your combos, my favorites are [name]Margo[/name] [name]Isadora[/name] and [name]Margo[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] (I’ll admit that I also like [name]Margo[/name] [name]Josephine[/name], in spite of the go/jo thing; it doesn’t actually bother me). I also think [name]Margo[/name] and [name]Jesse[/name] make a rockin’ sibset. They don’t seem even a bit mismatched to me.
I definitely prefer the [name]Margot[/name] spelling. Some mn suggestions:
[name]Margot[/name] [name]Clementine[/name]
[name]Margot[/name] [name]Adelaide[/name]
[name]Margot[/name] [name]Bay[/name] (I’ve got really into [name]Bay[/name] as a mn, for literally everything)
[name]Margot[/name] [name]Corisande[/name] (there is the whole ‘go’ ‘co’ thing, but I think it still sounds magical)
[name]Margot[/name] [name]Demelza[/name]
[name]Margot[/name] [name]Jemima[/name]
[name]Margot[/name] [name]Kerensa[/name]
[name]Margot[/name] [name]May[/name] ([name]Just[/name] sounds so so cute!)
[name]Margot[/name] [name]Seraphine[/name]
[name]Margot[/name] [name]Verve[/name]
[name]Margot[/name] [name]Verena[/name]

I absolutely adore [name]Margo[/name]/[name]Margot[/name]!
I am really drawn to the double M combinations…I love [name]Margo[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name] (although that does strike me as quite French), and [name]Margo[/name] [name]Milena[/name].
