[name]One[/name] of the more interesting trends right now is the “v” trend. [name]How[/name] did this unusual and unassuming letter work itself into so many of the hip names of right now?
What do you think? [name]Do[/name] you think it will be around for long? What is your favorite V name?
Did it come about with the [name]Emily[/name]>>[name]Emma[/name]>>[name]Eva[/name] (to [name]Ava[/name]) progression that sometimes happens?
I think I like [name]Genevieve[/name] and [name]Vivian[/name] and [name]Eve[/name] best. I really do like [name]Eva[/name] and [name]Ava[/name] as well, but they are so short and so common that I think they will have a hard time feeling fresh. I would be happy to be wrong though.
I have loved V names for several years now, favorites being [name]Virginia[/name], [name]Valencia[/name], [name]Vienna[/name], [name]Victoire[/name] and [name]Vionnet[/name]. I think they have an almost sultry sound, reminding people of words like Vixen, Voluptuous, [name]Velvet[/name], Vivacious, Vanity, Victorious, Virtuous! That’s the appeal to me anyway. V names always sound exotic and wonderful!
[name]Eve[/name] is my favorite, but I also love
[name]Evelyn[/name]
[name]Ivy[/name]
[name]Verity[/name]
[name]Geneva[/name]
[name]Olivia[/name]
[name]Livy[/name]
Let’s see [name]Favorite[/name] girls names following the illustrious v trend:
[name]Elva[/name], [name]Viola[/name], [name]Octavia[/name], [name]Olive[/name], [name]Livia[/name], [name]Valencia[/name], [name]Minerva[/name]
I’ve always loved V names. My favorite names when I was young were [name]Vivian[/name] and [name]Vesper[/name].
[name]Vesper[/name], [name]Valdis[/name], [name]Avalon[/name], [name]Lovisa[/name], [name]Vanora[/name]…
[name]Vidar[/name], [name]Vilhelm[/name], [name]Valdemar[/name], [name]Ivar[/name], [name]Havard[/name]…
I love the “V” trend! There’s just something about the “V”–it’s so romantic and yet sweet and feminine to me. Probably why I don’t really like any “V” names for boys.
My favorite “V” names for girls:
[name]Eva[/name]
[name]Evangeline[/name] (MN only, though)
[name]Violet[/name] (not to mention [name]Violetta[/name] and [name]Viola[/name]!)
[name]Giovanna[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name]/[name]Geneva[/name]
[name]Vivienne[/name]
[name]Verity[/name]
[name]Valeria[/name]/[name]Valentina[/name]/[name]Valencia[/name]
[name]Verena[/name] (although I prefer [name]Serena[/name], but [name]Verena[/name] is lovely)
[name]Vienna[/name]
[name]Olivia[/name]
[name]Olive[/name]
[name]Livana[/name]
Right now [name]Olivia[/name], [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Eva[/name] are my favorites, though. I think the “V” trend shot off with the celebrity use of [name]Ava[/name] and [name]Violet[/name], probably…
I think v is getting more attention because it’s a more unusual letter, and it does have a very vivacious feel to it. I love [name]Genevieve[/name], and [name]Vera[/name], [name]Violet[/name], [name]Vivien[/name], [name]Verity[/name], [name]Ava[/name], [name]Evander[/name], [name]Everett[/name], and [name]Evan[/name] were all on my list at one point or another.
My son’s name is [name]Victor[/name] - we call him [name]Victor[/name] and [name]Vic[/name], back and forth. I think that the “v” sound just has a feeling of energy about it, a liveliness, that I really like. Other V names I am fond of include [name]Valeda[/name], Varuc, [name]Vivian[/name], [name]Vincent[/name] - I really do like the sound. My husband isn’t in the same camp but he did go for [name]Victor[/name], thank goodness!
I have an [name]Ivy[/name], but I also like [name]Vera[/name] and [name]Eve[/name] for girls. And my guilty pleasure, [name]Clover[/name]. For boys I love [name]Sylvan[/name], [name]Ivan[/name] and [name]Victor[/name]. GP? [name]Bonaventure[/name].
I’m not sure what the draw is, other than sound. The high-value Scrabble letters are having their moment in the sun.
[name]Genevieve[/name] is my close 2nd choice for girls names right now. It has been on my name list since I was 8 or 9. It’s my great grandmother’s name. I know that the initial name choice had nothing to with name trends. The decision to use the nicknames [name]Evie[/name] or [name]Eve[/name] instead of [name]Gen[/name] or [name]Genny[/name] probably does though. I do also love the names [name]Ivan[/name] and [name]River[/name] for boys. I guess I am drawn to the crisp “V” sound. I’s easy to say and not fussy.
[name]Viviana[/name], [name]Evelyn[/name] and [name]Vincent[/name] are my picks. Interesting that both Viviene/vyvyan and [name]Evelyn[/name] are unisex names.
[name]Olive[/name] is top of my list.
Also like [name]Verity[/name], [name]Virginia[/name], [name]Victoria[/name], [name]Ivy[/name], and [name]Savannah[/name], although those are much farther down my list.
Are we only talking about girls names? My #1 boys name is [name]Calvin[/name], though that’s the only V in my whole boys list!
I don’t know why V is popular…for me it’s just a neutral letter, although it does seem like there are a lot of “frilly” girls names with V’s, and that’s really not my style.
