Wife and I are conflicted about our baby's name

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Everyone
We have a baby girl, names we think of are: [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_u]Liberty[/name_u] and [name_f]Isabella[/name_f].
What do you think?
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you have other suggestions?
Would love to hear your thoughts.
Thank you all

I have a daughter [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] so that’s obviously going to get my vote!

[name_u]Liberty[/name_u] is the odd one out. I’d stick to one of the others, because they seem to be more similar in style and reflect your taste in general, so I guess you’ll be happier with them in the long term. [name_u]Liberty[/name_u] isn’t bad, but very patriotic with political implications and likely to just become [name_f]Libby[/name_f].

I personally don’t love [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], so I would pick [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] or [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. You really can’t go wrong. I feel like some nickname for [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] is unavoidable, so be aware of that. I think you can get [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] without [name_f]Elle[/name_f] or [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], but [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] is so long that if you dislike [name_u]Izzy[/name_u], [name_f]Belle[/name_f], [name_f]Bella[/name_f] and all of the other nicknames I wouldn’t pick it.

Thank you for your kind reply.
[name_f]My[/name_f] wife worries that “Eleanor” sounds a bit like “ill”.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think she has a point ?

[name_u]Welcome[/name_u] to Nameberry! [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is my favorite of these choices. I also quite like [name_u]Liberty[/name_u] (Libby !), though it’s a bit of an outlier on your list. [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is one of those names I think I would like much more if it weren’t so popular. And [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] is perfectly serviceable, just not a personal favorite.

Suggestions:
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]

[name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], and [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] are all beautiful, feminine, historic and literary classics that I love. [name_u]Liberty[/name_u] is definitely more modern and unusual as a name. It does have a pretty sound and meaning, and the nn [name_f]Libby[/name_f] is precious.

If I had to name a daughter one of these, I would choose [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f].

Some other suggestions:
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Araminta[/name_f]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f]
[name_f]Verity[/name_f]
[name_f]Amity[/name_f]
[name_f]Mercy[/name_f]

I don’t get “ill” from [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. I said “elle,” but this is probably an accent thing!

Nice list!

[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] → solid with a nice meaning, but very popular

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] → it’s got an understated elegance and pretty feel

[name_u]Liberty[/name_u] → love this - free, bubbly and bright

[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] → elegant and strong. [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] is sweet and so is [name_f]Bella[/name_f]

I’ll suggest:

[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]

I love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and it has a beautiful sound.

No, don’t worry. Maybe it’s your accent? In mine it sounds like -ell- not -ill-. But if this worries you, go for [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]. All my best wishes!

[name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] + [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] feel very stylistically similar. They are all feminine classics that are very elegant, timeless and feel popular.

[name_u]Liberty[/name_u] is the more unusual option she’s bright, stylish, modern and has the lovely nickname [name_f]Libby[/name_f] which gives a vintage feel.

Personally your selection of names seems to lean more towards classic choices so I would go down this path as I think you’d feel happier with the choice.
From all your names I would go [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]. I have loved [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] for such a long time she’s elegant, romantic, international and has the lovely meaning wisdom. I love [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]!

Suggestions: [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Francesca[/name_f], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], [name_f]Verity[/name_f] and [name_f]Iris[/name_f]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps
