What’s your thoughts on ‘[name_m]Wild[/name_m]’ as a middle for a three syllable first?
[name_m]Wild[/name_m] Bardou would be the two middle names. Another option we were considering was [name_m]Rune[/name_m] Bardou.
Thoughts?

Hey IrishSaint
I much prefer [name_m]Wild[/name_m] to [name_m]Rune[/name_m]. Would you consider the “Wilde” spelling - makes it seem more like a name and less like a word? No probs either way - I may go with a “not-very-name-like” middle myself.
I’m not a fan of the name in general at all, but I see no logical reason as to why it would be any less acceptable on a girl than it is on a boy. It is quirky when paired with the first names in your signature. I could probably warm up to it.
I think [name_m]Wild[/name_m] sounds like you’re trying too hard to sound stereotypically “strong” and therefore masculine. I don’t really see the benefits to the name [name_m]Wild[/name_m]- the meaning isn’t very noble or worthy. Wildness doesn’t necessarily imply wholesome adventure. When I think of ‘wild’ I generally think of negative associations.
It definitely sounds ultra trendy, which is also another downside in my opinion.
My personal opinion is that I don’t think feminine names need propping up by “masculine” adjectives to make them more bearable: feminine names possess a lot of strength and there are many many short female names that would act as a good anchor to frillier first names without having to dive into the adjective category.
Sure, I guess it could work in the middle. I really don’t like [name_m]Rune[/name_m] though…
Thank you all! I certainly wasn’t trying to turn this into a gender thing at all. If anything [name_m]Wild[/name_m]/Wilde is neutral in my mind because it’s a word. She’s just a very active baby already and very spunky and we’ve really looked for single syllable middle names that would work. This was one I was throwing out there. Any ideas on single syllable names for spunky girls?
[name_m]Rune[/name_m] is bisexual in Norway, but most common to boys. You could consider Runa wich is the feminen version. Both names means secret or floating
[name_f]Vilja[/name_f] is a new constructed name, and means willing or will to fight in Norway, I see it has a different meaning in Finland.
[name_m]Wild[/name_m] is a great name! I’m using [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] myself as a middle spot.
I think that sometimes word names can court trouble. As such, I’d be inclined to use [name_m]Rune[/name_m]. I also think that [name_m]Rune[/name_m] has a lovely mythical, whimsical quality that [name_m]Wild[/name_m] is missing.
I actually like both [name_m]Wild[/name_m] and [name_m]Rune[/name_m], but I am a big fan of single syllable names in the middle. I prefer slightly [name_m]Wild[/name_m] over [name_m]Rune[/name_m], I think.

@irishsaint I love one syllable names but if you’re thinking [name_m]Hayes[/name_m] for the first name, maybe a two-syllable name would make for better flow?

Here is what I think. I really like the idea, I like word names, and [name_m]Wild[/name_m] sounds like a great name. But it does look like the stereotype “strong = masculine”, which I hate. I also hate when people say that a first feminine name with a masculine middle name make the first name “stronger”, or that a “girly” FN with a masculine MN make a balance… makes me cringe.
But I also think that [name_m]Wild[/name_m] is different than using [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_u]August[/name_u], etc.
I don’t know what I would do. [name_m]Rune[/name_m] and [name_m]Wild[/name_m] are both good names.
Yes, this is exactly what I was trying to get at. Feminine names are not weak on their own!
I personally love the name Wilde as a second name, it’s on my list. I think it’s unique and can sound either pretty or masculine depending on what names you use with it. I don’t think of the word, wild, as unruly/naughty… wild brings to mind for me, nature as it is supposed to be. I think of wild roses and creeper vines, ancient forests, horses running free with the wind in their hair etc…
Best wishes for the birth of your rainbow baby. Our rainbow baby is due [name_f]April[/name_f] as well. xxoo
