Wiley and Waylon?

I love the names [name]Wiley[/name] and [name]Waylon[/name], but I’m wondering if others think they are too close? I know that they are similar, but I’m not sure if it would totally bother me. I want to hear some opinions from others. Also, any overall opinions on the names? Thanks!

Neither are my cup of tea. I think they are too close for siblings.

I like [name]Waylon[/name], but I think they’re too close to use as a sib set.

I like them, but I think they’re too close to be used together. You would have to pick one or the other.

If you’re really in love with both of them, I suppose you could maybe use one as a first name on one child and the other as a middle name on another child.

I disagree, I think with the different sounding endings of the names they would be fine for a sib set. I actually think it’s a wonderful set of names for brothers! We’re expecting our first son in [name]April[/name] which we’re naming [name]Waylon[/name] so I get really excited to hear that other people are fond of the name as well since my husband and I have gotten a lot negative feedback about it (it hasn’t shaken our [name]LOVE[/name] of the name though)! [name]Wylie[/name] is great too, could be a nickname for [name]Wilder[/name] if you find that you feel that the two are too similar.
Good luck and congrats!

Thanks for the opinions everyone, lots to think about. I have considered [name]Wilder[/name] too, I’m just not sure if I like [name]Wilder[/name] and [name]Waylon[/name] together.

Whereabouts are you located? In the southern US, that is a strong reference to [name]Willie[/name] & [name]Waylon[/name] - [name]Willie[/name] [name]Nelson[/name] & [name]Waylon[/name] [name]Jennings[/name]. As soon as I saw it, I misread [name]Wiley[/name] as [name]Willy[/name] and thought you were a country music fan. There is a song called “Luchenbach, TX,” and the chorus goes, “Let’s go to Luchenback, [name]Texas[/name] / [name]Waylon[/name] & [name]Willie[/name] and the boys.” Most people in the South know that song, at least most over 25 or so, and some under. It’s a country classic. So if you live around here and say “[name]Wiley[/name] & [name]Waylon[/name],” you will hear a lot of references to Luckenbach, [name]Texas[/name].

If you’re not in the US, or maybe if you’re not in the South/SW, you should be ok. I personally think it’s a bit matchy for siblings, but I had dogs named [name]Willie[/name] & [name]Waylon[/name]. I’m from [name]Texas[/name].

Take care!

Hmm interesting, I never would have made the [name]Waylon[/name] and [name]Willie[/name] connection. Definitely something to think about as I love country music, don’t want to be too themey! Now I think I’m leaning a little bit more towards [name]Wilder[/name] and [name]Waylon[/name], that may be the better option.
