Will this name become dated?

Hey everyone!

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] will become a dated name? If so, when?

Right now [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is a popular name and No 1 currently within the UK. As popularity rises people search for less popular names and the names list evolves however there are people I know in my generation that were named [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] over 30 years ago and the name today is No1 so I can’t see a dramatic decline, it remains a beautiful and well loved name.

I think [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is a classic that is facing an upsurge and it will be dated when the people currently being named that become the “uncool” generation  But I think it will generally remain a classic name.

I don’t think so, [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] de Havilland is one hundred, after all! It’s a beautiful name, if extremely popular, whether that’s a good thing or not is up to you.

I think most popular names will sound dated eventually, unless they manage to stay consistently popular over the decades (like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] or [name_u]James[/name_u] for example).

I think it depends on whether or not people stop using it. It’s been ranked in the top 100 in the US for almost 30 years, but now that it’s so high on the list I think it could end up being considered “dated” if there’s a dramatic drop in usage.
