Will this ruin it? Or am I being silly?

I was at the cinema the other day and I saw a trailor for the new lego film thats coming out at the end of the year. The film looks great but here’s my issue the main characters name is [name_u]Emmet[/name_u].

[name_m]Will[/name_m] this ruin [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] for me? Me and my boyfriend love the name and we always talk about having our own little [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] and am really worried that this will ruin it for me.

What do you guys think?

Also me and my boyfriend aren’t planning on having any children for another few years due to having to save for our own house and I’m still finishing my degree.

Thanks berries,
Laurakate xo

I don’t know. Did the [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] in Legally Blonde ruin the name for you? If the character is a good person, I’m not sure how a fictitious person could “ruin” a name.

No it didn’t, and am not meaning that, I’m meaning will it become popular? Therefore ruining it.

Since it’s a kids’ movie, I don’t think [name_u]Emmet[/name_u] will get too popular, but even if it does, the name is still usable.

Popularity doesn’t ruin a name. If you love it, use it regardless of popularity. [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]'s becoming popular without a movie namesake so if you don’t want to use it because of popularity, you might be too late. It’s something like 186 right now and has been rising for over 10 years. A movie won’t change that.

Yea I’m probably just over thinking it, I don’t think it will get popular where I live, it’s mainly the usual [name_u]Jayden[/name_u]/[name_u]Aiden[/name_u]/kaiden and jacks for boys so I have nothing to worry about

Thank you xo

If Twilight didn’t ruin it, I doubt a Lego movie would, kwim? It’s a good name and in a few years when it might be an issue for you, the hype will have died down.

Haha, my thoughts exactly. I like the name.

Agree with the two posters above. Twilight was the time for it to explode, not a movie aimed at little kids.

Yea never thought of it that way  thanks xo

I agree with casilda. Also [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] is such a handsome name, I have it on my list.

[name_u]Emmett[/name_u] is fantastic! I don’t think you have to worry about it.

[name_u]Emmett[/name_u] is gorgeous so either way it’s still a brilliant name.

My [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] would be [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] [name_u]Ryan[/name_u]

If Twilight’s [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] didn’t ruin it for you, I highly doubt any other reference will. I don’t see any other pop culture reference (especially a Lego movie–I read that right, yes?) really even making a dent in it. I think [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] will continue to rise because it’s a stylish choice, but I really doubt it’ll be because of a Lego movie, or really any other reference. I think Twilight brought [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] to the forefronts of people’s minds, and while it’ll continue to rise, pop culture probably won’t be the reason for it. If that makes sense.

[name_u]Emmett[/name_u]/[name_u]Emmet[/name_u] won’t be connected to the Lego character by anyone other than those who have boys under 11. And even then it’s connection will be fleeting. Use [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]! It’s a lovely name and the Lego character won’t have any negative effect on it.

I think that you’re just having second thoughts, like most people who’ve fallen in love with a name. Everyone does that at least once. But [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] is fine! It won’t ruin it, and you’ll be waiting a few years; no one will even remember or know that the main character is [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] by then.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] push it out of your mind and remind yourself of all the reasons why you fell in love with the name in the first place!
