Will you rank these girls names? šŸ˜

Iā€™ve seen posts before asking people to rank names on their list 0/10, 0 being the worst a name could be and 10 being an amazing name. There are a few names on this list that Iā€™m not quite sure how I feel about, some I love but think the general population might not, and some in between.
I thought it would be interesting to see how unbiased people would rank them. Iā€™m more so hoping to see what your personal opinion is on the name, not what you think about them for me based on how many posts Iā€™ve made for them in the past (ahem, me and my 10,000 Etta posts :grimacing:).

Hello!

Here are my personal reactions/associations to these names (at this time).

[name_f]Edith[/name_f] ā€œEdieā€ 8/10 This name (Edie) was on my list for a middle before my husband said he didnā€™t like the ā€œeeā€ sound repeat. I get what heā€™s saying, but as a nickname itā€™s cute! [name_f]Edith[/name_f] is so soft and gentle, like a whisper. I love it, but he says itā€™s old lady (I like old lady, okay!)

[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] ā€œMaxā€ 4/10 First of all, nothing wrong with the name, really. I like it. Stranger Things is a good association. Itā€™s a great combination of feminine and masculine (tomboy) vibes. Itā€™s just that I recently watched a horror trilogy about a character named [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Minx[/name_f], and itā€™s too much at the forefront of my mind to consider using personally (same goes for the name [name_m]Pearl[/name_m], a similar character in the trilogy) shudder

[name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] ā€œPrisca, Prill, Prilla, Pri, Prilly, P, Cill, [name_f]Cilla[/name_f], Rillaā€ 2/10 Iā€™m sorry, I just think ā€œPrissyā€.

[name_f]Etta[/name_f] 5/10 Hmm, itā€™s cute, but it falls flat for me! I feel like it needs a double-barrel to complete it. Like, Etta-Rae or Etta-Leigh?

[name_f]Lettie[/name_f] 4/10 This one sounds like a nn, and I prefer [name_f]Lottie[/name_f].

[name_f]Estelle[/name_f], 5/10 Hm, not bad on paper, it just doesnā€™t have a nice flow for me out loud. I suppose I pronounce it with a space between ā€œEh-ā€ and ā€œStellā€, and it sounds off. I prefer [name_f]Stella[/name_f] for this reason.

[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] ā€œGrid, Grin, [name_f]Inga[/name_f], Ingyā€ 6/10 Actually, I really like this name and would melt upon meeting a little [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]. Not a fan of the nicknames, but the name is super cute. The only problem is that it kinda sounds like ingrate.

[name_f]Louise[/name_f] 8/10 Jeez [name_f]Louise[/name_f]! I love this name and I love the [name_f]Lou[/name_f] and Lou-lou nn options. So cute and happy!

[name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] 8/10 This gives me the same vibes as [name_f]Louise[/name_f]! Really sweet. But, I like [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] as the name and [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] as the nn.

[name_f]Suzie[/name_f] 6/10 You know, I think the only reason I like this name (Suzie, Suzanne) is that you could use the nn [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f], (Itā€™s a [name_m]Wonderful[/name_m] Life).

[name_f]Aletta[/name_f] 3/10 This one just falls flat for me, too.

[name_f]Edith[/name_f] ā€œEdieā€ - 9/10
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] ā€œMaxā€ - 7/10
[name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] ā€œPrisca, Prill, Prilla, Pri, Prilly, P, Cill, [name_f]Cilla[/name_f], Rillaā€ - 9/10
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] - 10/10
[name_f]Lettie[/name_f] - 8/10
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] - 7/10
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] ā€œGrid, Grin, [name_f]Inga[/name_f], Ingyā€ - 8/10
[name_f]Louise[/name_f] - 6/10
[name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] - 9/10
[name_f]Suzie[/name_f] - 10/10
[name_f]Aletta[/name_f] - 3/10

Great list! :two_hearts:

[name_f]Edith[/name_f]: 6/10 I love [name_f]Edie[/name_f], but I canā€™t get behind [name_f]Edith[/name_f] fully. I like it, but itā€™s not a favorite
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f]: 9/10 I love this name so much!
[name_f]Priscilla[/name_f]: 5/10 I like the idea of the name but itā€™s much to frilly in my opinion
[name_f]Etta[/name_f]: 7/10 This is a really pretty name!
[name_f]Lettie[/name_f]: 8/10 [name_f]Love[/name_f] it!
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f]: 7/10 I like this one a lot, but I prefer [name_f]Stella[/name_f] or Stell
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]: 7/10
[name_f]Louise[/name_f]: 5/10
[name_f]Ruthie[/name_f]: 4/10 Iā€™d prefer [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Suzie[/name_f]: 4/10
[name_f]Aletta[/name_f]: 4/10

For this, I think Iā€™ll rank the names and then list the combos in order of my personal preference (my favourite combo to the one Iā€™m least excited about). I hope this helps!

[name_f]Edith[/name_f] ā€œEdieā€ - 9/10. I think thereā€™s something so elegant and unique about [name_f]Edith[/name_f], and I really love that ā€œthā€ ending. [name_f]Edie[/name_f] is also adorable.

[name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] ā€œEdie Beaā€
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] ā€œEdie Beeā€ - I canā€™t decide if the double thā€™s flow together or if itā€™s too much, but Iā€™m leaning towards them being cool echoes of each other, especially with the slightly different sounds.
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_m]Pearl[/name_m]
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Jeannette[/name_f] ā€œEdie Jeanā€

[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] ā€œMaxā€ - 6/10. I wish I liked [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] more than I do. Itā€™s such a fun sassy name but Iā€™ve met a few Maxā€™s that have soured my impression.

[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] - So gorgeous
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] - [name_f]Love[/name_f] the m sound repeating.
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Annemarie[/name_f] (smoosh of two honor names)
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Edie[/name_f]
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Verity[/name_f]
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_m]Pearl[/name_m]
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f]
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] - [name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], but itā€™s a bit too rhymey for me.
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Mallory[/name_f]

[name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] ā€œPrisca, Prill, Prilla, Pri, Prilly, P, Cill, [name_f]Cilla[/name_f], Rillaā€ - 6/10. I love the multiple nicknames, especially [name_f]Prisca[/name_f], but the ā€œprissyā€ + ā€œillā€ sounds push me back a little.

[name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] [name_m]Pearl[/name_m]

[name_f]Etta[/name_f] - 10/10. [name_f]Gorgeous[/name_f]. Itā€™s trim and sweet and a little jazzy.

[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] - [name_m]Super[/name_m] classic and cute.
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] Lucelia [name_f]Anne[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]

[name_f]Lettie[/name_f] - 6/10. Very cute, but I always think of lettuce. It feels slightly incomplete to me, but Iā€™m not a great [name_f]Leticia[/name_f] fan either.

[name_f]Lettie[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] ā€œLettie Louā€
[name_f]Lettie[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Lettie[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]

[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] - 8/10. [name_f]Love[/name_f] the meaning and it has such a pretty, delicate sound.

[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] - [name_f]Love[/name_f] love love this combo.
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_f]Annemarie[/name_f]
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] Lucelia [name_f]Anne[/name_f] ā€œEssie Luā€ - Adorable nickname.
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_m]Pearl[/name_m]

[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] ā€œGrid, Grin, [name_f]Inga[/name_f], Ingyā€ 9/10. I think [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] is so elegant and feminine, and Grin is such a fun, happy nickname. I personally like [name_f]Indie[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] as well.

[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] [name_f]Annemarie[/name_f]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] [name_f]Maxine[/name_f]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] [name_m]Pearl[/name_m] - I think it might be clear that Iā€™m just not a fan of [name_m]Pearl[/name_m], but this is my favourite [name_m]Pearl[/name_m] combo.

[name_f]Louise[/name_f] - 5/10. Another one I wish I liked more, but the wheeze sound bothers me personally. Still very classic.

[name_f]Louise[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Louise[/name_f] [name_f]Maxine[/name_f]

[name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] - 8/10. Ruthieā€™s super adorable. I think it sounds gentle but still strong and a little bit sassy.

[name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] [name_f]Maxine[/name_f]

[name_f]Suzie[/name_f] - 4/10. Something about [name_f]Suzie[/name_f] is just a bit too juvenile for me. Like sheā€™s a very specific little girl in my mind with corkscrew curls in a pinafore and I canā€™t imagine an actual human girl with that name.

[name_f]Suzie[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]

[name_f]Aletta[/name_f] - 4/10. Thereā€™s many names on this list I really prefer. Thereā€™s nothing wrong with [name_f]Aletta[/name_f], I just donā€™t find it very exciting.

[name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] ā€œEtta [name_f]Lou[/name_f], [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] [name_f]Lou[/name_f], or [name_f]Letta[/name_f] Louā€ - CUTE nicknames.
[name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Annemarie[/name_f]
[name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Maxine[/name_f]
[name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Amelie[/name_f]

Iā€™m so sorry for some of the lowest ranking. I love nicknames, but Iā€™m usually not crazy for nicknames as full names.

[name_f]Edith[/name_f] - 3
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] - 8
[name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] - 3
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] - 4

[name_m]Favorite[/name_m] for [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] is [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] (love the way this flows) and least favorite is [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] (just donā€™t love the flow)

[name_m]Favorite[/name_m] for [name_f]Etta[/name_f] is [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] (so short and sweet) and least favorite is [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] (again just too repetitive sounds for my taste)

[name_m]Favorite[/name_m] for [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] is [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] (loving [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] Lou) and least favorite is [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] (just donā€™t love the flow)

[name_m]Favorite[/name_m] for [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] is [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] [name_m]Pearl[/name_m] (again very regal and feminine) and least favorite is [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] Roaalind (just donā€™t love the flow)

[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] more than [name_f]Louise[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f].

[name_m]Favorite[/name_m] for [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] is [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] and least favorite is [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Amelie[/name_f].

[name_f]Edith[/name_f] ā€œEdieā€ - 9/10. [name_f]Edith[/name_f] was my paternal grandmotherā€™s name, Iā€™m really fond of it for that reason and besides the family connection, I just love the name. I like that it doesnā€™t sound hyper feminine (really ā€˜frillyā€™) rather more warm and friendly. I think I like nn [name_f]Edie[/name_f] even more!

[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] ā€œMaxā€ - 4/10 overall because I canā€™t warm to [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] (I donā€™t know why) but I adore just [name_m]Max[/name_m].

[name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] ā€œPrisca, Prill, Prilla, Pri, Prilly, P, Cill, [name_f]Cilla[/name_f], Rillaā€ - 6/10. The full name makes me think of the adjective ā€˜prissyā€™ but I really like all these possible nns you have here, [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] and Prilla most of all.

[name_f]Etta[/name_f] - 9/10. Chic, elegant, down to earth, delicate.

[name_f]Lettie[/name_f] - 5/10. I donā€™t love [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] on her own, but as a nn for [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] for example, I think itā€™s sweet.

[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] - 10/10. I love the meaning, the chic [name_f]French[/name_f] sound.

[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] ā€œGrid, Grin, [name_f]Inga[/name_f], Ingy" 10/10. Such a sparkly name, I think sheā€™s perfect!

[name_f]Louise[/name_f] - 5/10. Iā€™m slightly put off by the ā€˜weezā€™ sound. Also, I went to school with many Louiseā€™s which made me feel a bit indifferent to her with the over-exposure. I love [name_f]Lou[/name_f] and names containing that sound that [name_f]Luella[/name_f] and Iā€™m starting to appreciate her more.

[name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] - 8/10. Adorable, warm, playful.

[name_f]Suzie[/name_f] - 7/10. Dated but Iā€™d love to see this come back and be attached to members of the newest generation!

[name_f]Aletta[/name_f] -7/10. I like this very much. ā€˜A letterā€™ does come to mind but this is so neutral and association it doesnā€™t bother me. A happily twirling, carefree name.

Iā€™m not a big fan of naming kids by a nn, so while [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] would be at the top for me, [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] is near the bottom.

I love [name_f]Edith[/name_f] and [name_f]Edie[/name_f].

[name_f]Etta[/name_f] (if itā€™s after [name_f]Etta[/name_f] James) is terrific.

[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] and [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] are a no, although [name_f]Massima[/name_f] is lovely.

[name_f]Letty[/name_f] is cute for [name_f]Letitia[/name_f] or [name_f]Lettice[/name_f] but not a fan of it on its own.

I prefer [name_f]Esther[/name_f] and [name_f]Hester[/name_f] to [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], although [name_f]Esti[/name_f] is a sweet nn.

Iā€™m Norwegian, and we pronounce [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] ā€œIngreeā€ so not a fan of [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] with the voiced d. Inge/Ingi is a cute nn.

I prefer [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] (which is my daughterā€™s mn) to [name_f]Louise[/name_f].

I do love [name_f]Susie[/name_f] with this spelling, but not as a full name, I prefer [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] or [name_f]Susan[/name_f].

I do like [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] and went to school with one, a descendant of [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] [name_m]Alden[/name_m]. I like [name_f]Cilla[/name_f] best of the nicknames.

[name_f]Edith[/name_f] ā€œEdieā€ - 6/10 - [name_f]Edie[/name_f] is sweet and I like [name_f]Edith[/name_f] in general but it feels too vintage for me to use it personally. I like [name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] best from your combos.
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] ā€œMaxā€ - 2/10 - sorry! [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] feels unflatteringly old lady to me and I donā€™t like [name_m]Max[/name_m] for a girl. I do like [name_f]Maxima[/name_f], just not [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] :woman_facepalming: I like [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] best from your combos.
[name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] - 5/10 - respect its history but much prefer just [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] myself (LOOOOOOVE [name_f]Prisca[/name_f], she would be a 9!). [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] [name_m]Pearl[/name_m] is sweet, I had considered [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_m]Pearl[/name_m] a while back!
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] - 4/10 - want to love this, just like [name_f]Ella[/name_f] way more. [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is so sweet.
[name_f]Lettie[/name_f] - 6/10 - love how light and soft and sweet and delicate [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] is! Which is weird but the reason I canā€™t ever seem to fully get into her is ā€œDonā€™t be a Lettie!ā€ was a mantra my grandma and mom had for us growing up. There used to be a very frail and slim old lady that went to my momā€™s church growing up whose name was [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] and she would come into church go straight to the front row, and throw herself onto the pew and it would thud and shake and who knows what else lol. So [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] sort of feels like this caricature of unladylike behavior but she also looks like she should just be so dainty and light and sweet! [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] would be 10/10, I adore [name_f]Lottie[/name_f], but Lettieā€¦ what is it with momā€™s mantras and not being able to get them out of your head as an adult?! I like [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] best from your combos. Would prefer something like [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] or [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] [name_f]Francesca[/name_f], though?
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] - probably a 5/10 - I want to love her and do like her sleek image and the sweet [name_f]Estie[/name_f] nn opotions. I just canā€™t get into the [name_f]Stella[/name_f] family because of a [name_f]Stella[/name_f] I knew years ago. [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_m]Pearl[/name_m] might be my favorite of your combos?
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] - 8/10 - [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] is amazing! And so versatile. Like [name_f]Helena[/name_f], she strikes me as the kind of name that must belong to a person of the utmost character and loveliest spirit, timeless and beautiful. I wish I could find a nn I like for her, [name_f]Indie[/name_f] is probably the closest Iā€™ve come, although I would maybe try to force [name_f]Greta[/name_f] lol. [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is so sweet and beautiful! Her for sure, although I like [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] and [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] too.
[name_f]Louise[/name_f] - 4/10 - much prefer [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], [name_f]Louise[/name_f] feels middle aged to me still. I wish she felt sleek and [name_f]French[/name_f] and stylishā€¦ I even have [name_f]Louise[/name_f] as a middle in my top 3 (Evangeline [name_f]Dagny[/name_f] Louise) - itā€™s very odd that I love [name_f]Louise[/name_f] there but really not anywhere else. [name_f]Louise[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] is lovely though!
[name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] - 7/10 - cute as a button and so delightfully vintage! [name_f]My[/name_f] grandma was a [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] so I have become very fond of [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] and [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f]. I do prefer [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f], though - [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] wouldā€™ve been a 9/10. Donā€™t love [name_f]Maxine[/name_f], but [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] is very nice! I mightā€™ve done something like [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f].
[name_f]Suzie[/name_f] - 1/10 - sorry. I know someone with this name who is JUST like Mrs. [name_m]Bennet[/name_m] from Pride & Prejudice and sheā€™s not my favorite person. I did work with an AMAZING [name_f]Suzy[/name_f] years ago though, so sweet and kind and beautiful. Her full name was [name_f]Susana[/name_f]. Definitely prefer Susanna/Susana to just [name_f]Suzie[/name_f]. [name_f]Suzie[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] is really nice though!
[name_f]Aletta[/name_f] - 8/10 - like I said in your other thread, really like [name_f]Aletta[/name_f]! Donā€™t know that I would use her myself, but Iā€™d love to meet one. [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] is lovely.

Good luck!

:joy:
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] got a lot of love in most responses!
Iā€™m going to calculate the average of everyoneā€™s rankings for fun, haha.
