So hubby just told me that our potential future son will be named [name_m]William[/name_m] no matter what and in return if our next child is a girl I can have full reign over the name. I took the deal. :slight_smile: I only like [name_m]Will[/name_m](which hubby goes by) and [name_m]Liam[/name_m] as nicknames for [name_m]William[/name_m]. We have a daughter [name_f]Mila[/name_f]. I feel like [name_m]Will[/name_m] is too traditional with [name_f]Mila[/name_f]. I like [name_m]Liam[/name_m] better with [name_f]Mila[/name_f] but is it too much to have brother sister acronyms…although it’s just the nickname…wdyt???

Well, if your husband goes by [name_m]Will[/name_m], it would probably be best for your future son to go by [name_m]Liam[/name_m] to avoid confusion. Both [name_m]Will[/name_m] and [name_m]Liam[/name_m] go well with [name_f]Mila[/name_f], I think.

While I prefer the nickname [name_m]Will[/name_m] over [name_m]Liam[/name_m] for [name_m]William[/name_m], I want to say go with [name_m]Liam[/name_m] to provide distinction between father and son. That said, I know fathers and sons that have the same names and they get by just fine. Though they often are referred to by outsiders and/or family members as, for example, Big [name_m]Will[/name_m] and [name_m]Little[/name_m] [name_m]Will[/name_m] or [name_m]Will[/name_m] and [name_m]Will[/name_m] [name_m]Jr[/name_m]. etc.

I think a REALLY neat idea for a 2nd someone is the middle name or even just nickname/pet name [name_m]Twain[/name_m] – it’s the archaic term for the number 2, with literary frill to boot. Might not be as neat to you as it is to me but I thought I’d share. :slight_smile:

I think the acronym issue is fine since its a nickname. [name_m]Liam[/name_m] and [name_f]Mila[/name_f] sound very hip. Maybe baby #3 can be Lima, [name_f]Mali[/name_f], [name_m]Amil[/name_m]? [name_m]Just[/name_m] kidding. Really, I think it’s just fine.

I see no problem with using the nickname [name_m]Liam[/name_m] even with the a sister named [name_f]Mila[/name_f].
