That’s a tough one! I love both but voted willow only because you’ve loved it so long! [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t pass it up just because of popularity
I would go for [name_f]Willow[/name_f] because
A) Youve loved it for a [name_m]LONG[/name_m] time, so you know you wont regret it or change your mind
and B) I associate [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] too strongly with the cartoon duck, and it reminds me of a dog name
Since plant-y names seem to be your style there are a lot of other wonderful options if you want to keep looking for the one, though I think [name_f]Willow[/name_f] is just fine, popular or not!
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]!!!
Both great names, but I adore [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]. The popularity of [name_f]Willow[/name_f] is a little off putting to me too, though [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] may go the same way so you really should use the one you love most.
I like both, but [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] is precious!
They are both beautiful, spunky, and make me picture a happy, smiling girl/woman. I honestly cannot choose between the two. I say wait until you meet her. You cannot go wrong with either.
I love [name_f]Willow[/name_f]!
I adore them both!! No matter what you won’t make a bad choice.
I ended up voting for [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] just because I liked it better with the name [name_m]Otis[/name_m] (if you did decide to use that name for a future son). I absolutely love [name_m]Otis[/name_m] and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] as siblings!
I like both though [name_f]Willow[/name_f] is my favourite. Personally I think the whole popularity issue sometimes gets exaggerated on Nameberry. Less children are being given popular names nowadays than in previous generations.
[name_f]Willow[/name_f] by far. [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] is way too juvenile for me.
Both are nice, but I prefer [name_f]Willow[/name_f]. It feels as fresh and feminine as [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] but less cute. Both are popular where I live but I still don’t meet too many of either.
Also, not a big deal but [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] Wilde has an [name_m]Otis[/name_m] and a [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]. Obviously, they go really well together but would that put you off your favourite boy’s name if you went on to have another child? I don’t think it necessarily should, but it’s something to think about.
I was wondering about the [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] Wilde thing, too! I agree that it shouldn’t deter you if those are “the names”, but it is something to think about. I am personally pro-[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]; she’s one of my favorite names ever right now. But the fact that [name_f]Willow[/name_f] has been your favorite for five years says a lot–I’d be hardpressed not to use [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]–my favorite of nearly seven years now!–no matter how popular she gets.
Good luck!
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f] is one of my favourite combos! Go for both!
I definitely thought of [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] Wilde (although many others might not). I prefer [name_f]Willow[/name_f] anyway, as it’s less childish. Maybe [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]/[name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]/[name_f]Margot[/name_f], nicknamed [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]?
I love [name_f]Willow[/name_f]
Thank you berries for all your replies! It has certainly made me feel confident about both! I think we’ll be taking both names in and decide. [name_f]Willow[/name_f] still has my heart. I’ve been thinking about the [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] Wilde association too. I think by the time we have our next one we might have chosen a different name or get a different gender! It’s been so nice to have such a supportive community here.
For me it would depend upon the surname. If it’s a common surname that could take an O’ then I’d choose [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]. Because [name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Malley[/name_f], for example, could easily be heard as [name_m]Will[/name_m] O’[name_f]Malley[/name_f].
If that wouldn’t be an issue, then I would pick [name_f]Willow[/name_f].
But [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] is sweet, as well.
Good luck!
Going off from a previous post, what about [name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]? That way you get both names or a form of the name together. Good luck!
I really like both names, but slightly favor [name_f]Willow[/name_f]. It’s number 111 in the US, so not as popular. Personally, top 30 is what I would normally stay out of, but I wouldn’t discount [name_f]Willow[/name_f] because it’s right on the edge of that for you in Australia.
