Willow

[name]Willow[/name] seems to be suggested all the time on Nameberry, but I’d love to hear actual opinions and thoughts on the name.
I used to skip over it because I thought it was lacking something…couldn’t put my finger on it… but now I really love it. I think it has everything going for it that I was looking for in a name: nature name affiliated with water, distinctly feminine without being too girly/frilly (perfect for a tomboy) and potential for some cute nicknames ([name]Willa[/name], [name]Lola[/name] etc.) I also have emotional connections to trees in general from my childhood, so I think [name]Willow[/name] really fits.

[name]How[/name] do you feel about it? What do you envision a little girl named [name]Willow[/name] to be like?

I think [name]Willow[/name] is a beautiful name! I don’t really envision people off of names, so I’m no help there, but I do support [name]Willow[/name] and I agree with you completely.

I really like it. I wouldn’t use it cause it’s nms really, but I like it a lot.

I’d picture a [name]Willow[/name] to be slightly taller than average, with long, somewhat feathery, brown hair. Either grey, green or hazel eyes. Possibly brown, but definitely not blue. Freckles, but light ones. Pretty face with dainty features.
A bit on the quiet side, but very whimsical. A sweetheart, and very inspired.

Or, I picture a girl like [name]Willow[/name] [name]Smith[/name], I think she fits her name to a T, especially in looks. She has that elvin kind of face, and her eyes stand out a lot.

I think it is very pretty. [name]One[/name] of my personal favorites.

I’m going to be the bad guy here and say that I really don’t like [name]Willow[/name]. Its a little too tied to [name]Willow[/name] [name]Smith[/name] for me, plus I just don’t see it as a name. I can’t imagine a real person named [name]Willow[/name]. Not a fan at all, sorry.

[name]Willow[/name] is really pretty. It works on a little girl, teenager, adult ,and old lady. It’s gorgoeous.

I don’t care for it very much but understand why others like it (such as the attributes you mention in your post). It has a “naturey” vibe to it and those types of names tend not to be my favorites.

I don’t really envision people with names much - the problem with that is the child may turn out to be far from the image in your head. But if I do try to envision a [name]Willow[/name], it would be someone rather graceful.

I also think it is a name that will become more popular. It’s talked about a lot, and it is in the top 100 names in a few states. It’s also gotten attention from some celebrity children.

[name]Willa[/name] and [name]Lola[/name] are good nicknames.

I love the name [name]Willow[/name], but it seems like it may end up feeling very dated and/or trendy to me. I think it has a nice sound to it though!

I adore [name]Willow[/name], I’m just not sure if I’m brave enough to use it! I think of [name]Willow[/name] Rosenberg of [name]Buffy[/name] before I think of [name]Willow[/name] [name]Smith[/name], if it helps any.

I always think of a weeping willow tree, so it sounds depressing to me.

I really like [name]Willow[/name], but for a nature name it just isn’t different enough for me to use personally. If I was going to go that direction I would want to go a bit further out there. That’s just me though. I think it’s a lovely name.

[name]Willow[/name] sounds perfect for you!

I used to love it (and [name]Willow[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] was on my top 5 at one point), but now it’s just meh to me. There was the whole [name]Palin[/name] thing and then it seemed like everyone had [name]Willow[/name] on their lists and it was just a pretty name that everyone loved… I still think it’s lovely, but I like just [name]Willa[/name] a lot more. It does feel a bit trendy to me.

I know one [name]Willow[/name], so I instantly think of her when I think of the name–she’s sweet, a momma’s girl, cheerful, has an adorable grin. She’s a bit shy but really cute. I imagine a [name]Willow[/name] to be more outgoing than the [name]Willow[/name] I know, but either way, I think it’s a really sweet, natural, fun name. And I do love the nns [name]Lola[/name] and [name]Willa[/name]!

I love [name]Willow[/name], it is a lovely girly name and she would be tall, elegant and willowy (of course). I think it fits also into sibsets where vintage names are loved eg [name]Cecelia[/name] and [name]Willow[/name] as sisters.

I would use it in a heartbeat.

I think [name]Willow[/name] is very very pretty - naturey but not too out there. I wouldn’t ever use it, but I love it on other people, and as a middle name.

The only [name]Willow[/name] I’ve ever met suits the name to a T - tall, slender (willowy haha), blonde, very pretty. I asked about her name and she said her parents were a bit hippy-ish haha (full name [name]Willow[/name] [name]Summer[/name] [name]Sky[/name]!).

I like [name]Willow[/name] but I dont love it. It’s very nature-y, kind of back-to-naturely imo, not neccessarily a bad thing, but a very distinct style, a little boho, a little free spirited, but I picture a girl with light curly hair, a [name]Willow[/name] would just need curly hair in my little picture, haha.

I like the option of [name]Willa[/name] as a nn.

Thank you for all the feedback! Now I’m wondering if [name]Willow[/name] would seem out of place on a little girl with thick dark hair and almond shaped eyes. I have to admit that I too envision a little girl with curly, sandy colored hair.

This sounds awful but I OFTEN catch myself naming my pets “human” like names that I’m very fond of but would NEVER have the guts to name my child… I love [name]Willow[/name], but I just picture it on a cute little yorkie rather than a middle aged woman.

I met a little girl named [name]Willow[/name] today  I think it’s won it’s way into my top five favorite girls’ names. My only questions are if it works on someone past the age of 15; what would I use for a middle name and if it sounds good with [name]Arthur[/name] (my favorite boy name).
