Willow?

What do you think of Willow for a boy? Thinking about it mostly as a middle name, but interested in your thoughts on it as a first, as well. Also considering Willows for the middle spot…

Give me your opinions!

I love [name_u]Willow[/name_u] for a boy! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I’d personally be more apt to use it in the middle spot, but I think it works for a first too. To me [name_u]Willow[/name_u] feels like the epitome of gentle strength, and I love the peaceful nature imagery it gives me. Plus I just think it’s fun to say, and as a middle, it pairs well with so many firsts!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] it!! Feels more usable as a middle but I do think it could work as a first  nn [name_m]Will[/name_m] makes it more familiar, I think.

I really like [name_u]Willow[/name_u] for a boy. It has the same feel as [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] or [name_u]Cedar[/name_u] and shares that o sound of [name_u]Milo[/name_u] or Hugo. I like it

I really like willow on a boy. I think I like it even more on a boy than a girl. It fits in with the boys names ending in o trend and is similar to other will- names. So I think it could definitely work on a boy!!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] it! Wasn’t a huge fan of it on a girl, but the first time I saw someone mention it for a boy I was in love  I have [name_u]Rafa[/name_u] [name_u]Willow[/name_u] as a combo right now

I love [name_u]Willow[/name_u] for a boy! I’m not brave enough to use it as a first, but it makes a lovely middle! I love its gentle strength.

As a first name I initially think girl, but I love it as a middle. And I love willows too! It gives almost a completely different feel. And then there’s always willoughby!

@futuremama I agree, I don’t even like [name_u]Willow[/name_u] for a girl! Something about it seems off. Maybe the similarity to William?

@Lauralee835 What makes Willows seem so different from [name_u]Willow[/name_u] for you? Is it the surnamey vibe?

I never thought about [name_u]Willow[/name_u] for a boy. I think I prefer [name_u]Willoughby[/name_u] on a boy just because my only associations of [name_u]Willow[/name_u] are girls exclusively. But I also see no reason why [name_u]Willow[/name_u] couldn’t be unisex. As a middle I think it could be handsome. I think as a first though, there could be teasing or only ever knowing girls with the name. He could always go by [name_m]Will[/name_m] though which lends itself well. I just think its way more popular for girls although it sounds perfectly unisex really!

I love it!! But I think I’d only use it as a middle, if I was brave enough to use it at all. I think it has similar vibes to [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] and [name_u]Harlow[/name_u] and is more accessible with nickname [name_m]Will[/name_m], if using it is a first. I think it is fresh and unique, but most people would assume [name_u]Willow[/name_u] is a girl and so it might not work well as a first for a boy. Perhaps Willows would be better on a boy as a first because [name_u]Willow[/name_u] is so heavily associated with girls… I’d say it’s similar to [name_u]Rivers[/name_u] and [name_u]Brooks[/name_u] - which lean masculine to me anyway. Bit of a brain dump sorry!! [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps…

Yeah I think maybe because of the surname vibe. As @Ameliaanwen pointed out with [name_u]Brook[/name_u] vs Brooks. I love it though!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] it!! Hadn’t considered it before tbh, but it works perfectly for a boy. Similar sound to [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], [name_u]Milo[/name_u] etc. The nickname Will. It’s unisex, nature name vibe. Yes, I would love to meet a little boy [name_u]Willow[/name_u] (more than I would like to see it on a girl too).
