So we’re team [name_u]Green[/name_u] for our first baby due in [name_u]August[/name_u]. If this one is a girl, we’re likely going with [name_f]Winifred[/name_f], to be called [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] almost exclusively. It’s a strong leader and at this point we’d use it for the next baby if that one is a girl.
Boy names are proving to be very difficult for us. The only one that husband like which I can really get behind is [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]. Honestly I’d like it for a boy or girl, actually.
My question is, if we use [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] for a boy this time would it be too similar to [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] to knock [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] off the list for down the road? Thinking of hollering it in the house and both kids thinking it’s for them/the other person, ha.
If so, the other names on the list that I like but don’t [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] are [name_m]Grant[/name_m] and [name_u]Grey[/name_u]. If anyone loves those names and can “talk them up” to me I’d appreciate it!
Thanks in advance!
I do think [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] and [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] are too close. I also wouldn’t worry about it. [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] is great, [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is also great. [name_f]Winnifred[/name_f] could also be [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] but I would go with your original plan. If you have a second child you will think of something new. I think too often we think we need to name all our future children now - and for us berries it’s kinda fun…but reality is we are evolving and discovering new names. I had a list for my son, but only one of those unused names is even on the list now. I’m not saying you won’t like [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] or [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] round two, just saying enjoy round one. Round two will come in during time
Firstly, congratulations! I very much agree with the above poster on this. All that matters is naming this child because they are already on their way. I definitely understand the desire to plan for the future when you’re dreaming of a bigger family. But there’s no need to have everything sorted out. If you have a second child, they could very well be the same gender as your first. It could be over 5 years from now. Tastes change as so on. [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] are fantastic names so be encouraged to use either of them!
Thank you guys! I think that’s a wise choice, to focus on this one and not get ahead of myself. For all I know, my husband could “cave” and we could go with my other top choice for a girl later down the road, which I would also be happy with. And yes, we could have two boys! (or two girls but I literally cannot wrap my head around the idea of this one being a girl, it just feels too destined/certain to be a boy lol)…
I appreciate the insight!
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.
I love [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]. So sweet! I like [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] a lot too, but only for a boy. I do think that they’re too close for siblings. However, if you’re currently just having one baby, go ahead & use one of your favorites. If & when #2 comes along, you can cross that bridge when you come to it. Lots of great names out there.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.
