We’d thought of using [name]Winter[/name] as a middle for [name]Felicity[/name], but have been getting mixed reactions. What do you think of the name [name]Winter[/name]? Is it too weird or out of left field? As an American expat in the UK, I’m particularly keen to hear what the [name]Brit[/name]-berries have to say about it. [name]One[/name] friend here said she thinks that names like this (nature names, not really established as firsts) would sound more working-class… not the feel we’re going for.
We’re having two girls, so her twin would likely be [name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Gray[/name].
I’m looking for something quite classic and sophisticated. I had originally thought that [name]Winter[/name] gave [name]Felicity[/name] fresh and intelligent feel, but now I’m not sure. What do you think? Second favourite at the moment is [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Eve[/name]… Is that any better?
Yay! I love the name [name]Winter[/name]. I think [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Winter[/name] sounds beautiful, classy, and like a perfect sister for [name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Gray[/name] (also a perfect name)! I also like [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Eve[/name], but I truly think [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Winter[/name] is a winner.
[name]Love[/name] [name]Winter[/name] as well, but I am American [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Winter[/name] and [name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Gray[/name] are perfect together!
[name]Winter[/name] is so pretty and fresh! I love pairing sophisticated, more established first names with fun, whimsical middles and I think [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Winter[/name] fits that perfectly. I wouldn’t be too keen on [name]Winter[/name] as a first name but in the middle it’s lovely. My only concern would be the strong, noticeable “I” sounds- three between the two names.
I love [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Winter[/name], it definitely has a flow to it. [name]Winter[/name] is beautiful although I typically don’t like ‘word names’.
Thanks for the comments–glad it’s at least not horrible! For those not so keen, what is it that you don’t like? [name]Do[/name] the styles clash, is the flow funny, or does it just not work?
I agree with your friend that word names are not usually used as names in [name]England[/name], while a lot of people like more unusual names, they’re not random words. But I don’t think using a beautiful word like [name]Winter[/name] sounds chavy (especially in the middle), I would be more concerned with sister [name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Gray[/name] to be honest.
I love [name]Winter[/name]. I’m usually not a word name person, but this is one of the modern names I’m really fond of. It sounds refreshing and strong. [name]Eve[/name] is the more conventional choice and will never garner you a raised eyebrow, but it’s also not as special in my opinion.
And I wouldn’t let a potential association with the “working class” (however negative that association might be for you) stop you from choosing a wonderful middle name. If you’re primarily concerned about the name projecting sophistication and class, though, then maybe [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Eve[/name] is the better combination. As a previous commenter said, [name]Winter[/name] is more whimsical and creative.
Yay! I love [name]Winter[/name]. I don’t love word names very much, but [name]Winter[/name] is my gp. I don’t like [name]Felicity[/name], but [name]Winter[/name] does sound good with it.
I love [name]Winter[/name]. Someone suggested it for a middle to my personal fave, [name]Tallulah[/name]. There’s something about [name]Winter[/name] that is so whimsical and fresh. I’m not sure how I feel about it with [name]Felicity[/name] but I love the name itself.
I am Canadian and live in a rural/working class area, so my opinion might not really count. But I love [name]Winter[/name]. I have recently suggested it to my hubby actually and he is mulling it over. Anyway, [name]Winter[/name] doesn’t seem like a classy, better than working class name to me. It just feels really fresh and down to earth.
I love [name]Winter[/name]! It’s my daughter’s second middle name - [name]Cornelia[/name] [name]Hermione[/name] [name]Winter[/name]. We chose it because it honors a [name]Winn[/name] plus we both like the sounding and I was born in winter. [name]Cornelia[/name] was born in [name]May[/name] so I think it works not only for winter babies.
[name]Felicity[/name] [name]Winter[/name] is beautiful and although I love [name]Winter[/name], in your situation I would use [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Eve[/name].
I love [name]Winter[/name] as both a first and a middle name! I think it’s a fresh seasonal name, that could work very well in modern day. Go for it! I also love [name]Felicity[/name].
I love [name]Winter[/name] in the middle spot! I actually considered [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Winter[/name] when I was pregnant with my DD (Who is [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Naomi[/name]) because most of our family are born [name]November[/name] - February so we thought it would be cool! But [name]Naomi[/name] won. [name]Poet[/name] [name]Winter[/name] is my favourite [name]Winter[/name] combo, but it’s on my GP list for obvious reasons haha!
[name]Felicity[/name] [name]Winter[/name] is really pretty! I would love to encounter a little [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Winter[/name].
