Witch character name ideas

I’ve been plotting a story that involves a young witch character. I’m undecided on her name. I was originally going to use the name Remi, but I didn’t feel that that was mystical sounding or whimsical enough.

She’s around 14 years old (I’m still undecided about her age.) She has long black hair, pale skin and piercing blue eyes. She lives in England with her Mum, Dad, younger sister and black cat called Lucky. She’s a rebellious teen, but is also kind-hearted towards her friends. She’d do anything to protect them, even if it unintentionally ends up causing more trouble for them.

The story is set in modern times. Her best friend is Molly Greenwood, who is the main character of the story.

Any name ideas? I’m open to any suggestions, and criticisms! :sweat_smile:

I adore [name_u]Remi[/name_u]. I have a few ideas but it may help to know her sister’s name and surname so they go together, but here are a few:

Thank you for the feedback. I’m not certain on the sister’s name yet, but I was thinking of using [name_m]Hill[/name_m] as a surname (again still undecided!)

Isadora and [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] are great names. However, there is a book series in the UK with witches with these two name already :grimacing: I do also like [name_f]Audra[/name_f] and [name_u]Lark[/name_u], though.

Seconding [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]! I like [name_m]Hill[/name_m] for a surname but [name_m]Black[/name_m] gives very witchy vibes. You could also look for old, complicated European last names, I always find them mysterious. [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], [name_u]Raven[/name_u], [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], [name_u]Salem[/name_u], [name_f]Serena[/name_f], [name_f]Selena[/name_f], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_u]Willow[/name_u], and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] are all somewhat spooky. I think [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is very witchy too! One of the Pendle witches was named [name_f]Alice[/name_f] Nutter, and that’s always the one I remember, so I would really love to read about a witch named [name_f]Alice[/name_f].

My immediate thoughts are [name_f]Lilith[/name_f], [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f], [name_f]Elvira[/name_f], and [name_u]Salem[/name_u]. I would consider checking out the surname [name_m]Eldridge[/name_m] for a witch!

I’d think [name_f]Avril[/name_f], right off the bat, without much thought, I just thought [name_f]Avril[/name_f] matched her.
