With Ophelia: Penelope, Leonor or Flora?

Which of these do you prefer as a (hypothetical) sister to [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]?

I have long preferred [name_f]Leonor[/name_f] and still love it but the more I think about the [name_m]German[/name_m] pronunciation, I’m not sure about it anymore…
I fear it also would end up [name_u]LEE[/name_u]-o-na in a British Accent just as [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] seems to turn into [name_f]Elea[/name_f]-na?!

[name_f]Flora[/name_f] I fall in and out of love with, I think she’s gorgeous but then it’s too plain and after some time I love it again.
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] sounds almost the same in English, [name_m]German[/name_m], Spanish, etc. which I adore…

[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] has always (for a long time) been on my long list and there’s something mysterious about her which is something that I also love about [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f].
She seems to be quite perfect, wdyt?

I prefer [name_f]Flora[/name_f] from your choices
Not a fan of [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], although love the nn possibilities
[name_f]Leonor[/name_f] looks and sounds incomplete to me
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] is beautiful. I can see what you mean about it being too plain because it is simple, easy to pronounce and easy to look at, but in think that’s what makes it perfect. It’s still just as elegant as [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]

[name_f]Leonor[/name_f] is better with [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], but I’m not sure if I’ve been pronouncing it right now… leh-nore?

[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] is nice, but I feel that [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Flora[/name_f] are too different in terms of style.

[name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] is stunning!

@steampunkleo [name_f]Leonor[/name_f] would be [name_m]Le[/name_m]-o-nor. You can either stress the last syllable which sounds gorgeous with a rolled r (the Spanish and Portuguese way) or the first, which is more natural to English speakers.
You definitely pronounce it with a leo sound though, it’s a different name than [name_f]Lenore[/name_f]

Oh, in which case, [name_f]Leonor[/name_f] still works perfectly with [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]. Beautiful.

The only one I would say no to is [name_f]Flora[/name_f]. Considering the character of [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], and how integral flowers were to her character and representation (pretty much the first thing people think of along with the fact she drowned and was crazy), I think it would be a bit odd. They are both stunning names ([name_f]Flora[/name_f] is in my signature), no doubt, but I don’t really think they should be used together.

[name_f]Leonor[/name_f] and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] would be lovely, in my opinion.

I thought of her handing out the flowers too, especially since the meaning of the flowers were significant.

I think my favorite out of the options would be [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]. If you don’t like such a literary theme through the sibset, my second choice would be [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Leonor[/name_f].

[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]!

I think it sort of depends on what you’re going for…
If it’s for sisters:
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] are perfectly matched in history and literature
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Leonor[/name_f] both have a mysterious air to them
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Flora[/name_f] are both dainty, reminding me of lace and flowers and summery picnics

If it’s for one combo, [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] flows best.
I don’t like the repeated -lia [name_m]Leo[/name_m]- in [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Leonor[/name_f], and I’m not entirely convinced by the F, L and O sounds repeating in [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Flora[/name_f].

[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] & [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] & [name_f]Flora[/name_f] both work beautifully together in my opinion. [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] fits well with mythological type names for me due to its whimsical feel, and though [name_f]Flora[/name_f] seems to be of a different style, it compliments [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] so very well.

Although I’m not a fan of [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], I like the way [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] look together on paper.
I really like [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Flora[/name_f] together, very sweet.
I also really like [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Leonor[/name_f] together, as dearest pointed out, there is something mysterious about that combo.

[name_f]Flora[/name_f] is one of my favourite girl names and it doesn’t bother me one bit it’s a margarine!

I don’t find it too plain, but I’m a less is more kind of person.

I don’t mind [name_f]Leonore[/name_f] but prefer [name_f]Eleanore[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is too much for my taste.

[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]! A gorgeous Greek literary sibset.
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] would be my second choice.

I like [name_f]Leonor[/name_f] (though it’s super overused here in Portugal) but I think it sounds funny when English-speakers try to pronounce it (lay-uh-nawr, lee-uh-nawr, lee-oh-nawr all sound awkward to me). Plus it’s so different in style to [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], which is a very English, very Shakespearean, soft and romantic name. [name_f]Leonor[/name_f] is strong-sounding and too foreign and unfamiliar in comparison. I honestly think the English [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Elinor[/name_f], [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] or [name_f]Leonore[/name_f] would all fit better with [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f].

Thank You All!
This thread put me at the beginning again as there is no clear winner. I really appreciate everyone’s input

[name_m]Hi[/name_m], sorry, bring this up again really quickly sorry. I’ve thought about it since I last answered and I’ve changed my mind. I originally said that I would avoid [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Flora[/name_f] because they just differ to much in style, but again, I’ve thought about it some more and they sound perfect together.

[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]! [name_f]Flora[/name_f]! Ready to go?!

I dunno. It just seems rather magical and flowery and dainty and beautiful.
