[name_m]Wizard[/name_m] names just pool wizard names.
(^○^)
[name_f]My[/name_f] personal philosophy is that a wizard is the type of magic user who lives in a tower with a lot of books and is into magic as science. (A witch is a magic user who lives in a cottage and is into healing and rituals, and a sorcerer is like a magical soldier.) For me it has little to do with gender. I know that some people just mean “magic user who is a boy” when they say wizard, and if that’s what you mean then ignore this, I guess. I mostly put this to explain what vibe I’m going for, not to preach at you.

[name_m]Wizard[/name_m], witch, sorcerer, warlock are all different I agree!!!
[name_f]My[/name_f] personal which-name-for-which-magic-user goes like this:
–Wizard and witch are different-gendered words for the same thing (like in [name_u]Harry[/name_u] Potter), and that they’re generally thought of as being wise, clever, and elegant, with mostly defensive spells and a good head for puzzles. They’re better at spells that involve non-physical things, like concepts and emotions, as well as light spells, finder spells, and healing spells.
–Warlock, in this view, is just an old-fashioned term for wizard, maybe with a slight connotation towards dark magic, and some people use it as a gender-neutral term.
–Sorcerers and sorceresses are thought of as being hot-headed, bombastic, and fiercely creative. Their spells are mostly offensive, and tend towards elementalism, often fire, and blowing things up. They’re better at spells that involve physical things, mainly moving them around and/or turning them into entirely different physical things and/or blowing them up.
–Enchanters and enchantresses, predictably, enchant things. They’re the people who make magic items, and are generally craftspeople, as loyal and steadfast as the items they create (which, of course, could be not at all). Their power is vast, and they can create almost anything that anyone desires, which often results in enchanters becoming solitary wanderers, visiting places, selling their artifacts there, and then moving on before anyone asks for more.
–Fortunists and fortunesses practice the little-known art of fortunism. This often involves telling people’s fortunes, but there’s a lot more to fortunism than just seeing the future. It requires intelligence, a good memory, and attention to detail, and is difficult to master, but the results are always rewarding. Fortunists deal most closely with the realm of the dead, kept safe by their precise wards and indomitable power. The art is focused around very specific Latinate incantations which, when done wrong, will either fail to work or explode in one’s face, but when done right, will work perfectly. Fortunists are thought of as intelligent, secluded, and proud.
