WLF's Day Name Rank

This is just my opinion - please feel free to share yours!! Nothing I say is meant to offend, I’m just having some fun with a piece of writing, so please don’t take anything too seriously!! (If you love a name, that is ALL that matters).
I’d love to see what everyone else thinks :hugs: :green_heart:

So here is my (subjective) ranking of all the day names!!

7th Place: [name_m]Saturday[/name_m]

The best day of the week, yet the worst name. [name_m]Saturday[/name_m] is just the odd one out - it has one more syllable than every other -day name, and (in my accent at least) sounds like “sadder-day”: not the most appealing connotation. While still an intriguing choice, this day name should stick to what it does best - being a day.

6th Place: [name_m]Thursday[/name_m]

[name_m]Thursday[/name_m] - it’s a decent day of the week, but is a bit of an awkward name. While it may appeal to some parents who want some of that Scandanavian-esque striking strength of [name_m]Thor[/name_m], in general, the sounds of [name_m]Thursday[/name_m] are just not incredibly appealing.

5th Place: [name_f]Monday[/name_f]

The objectively worst day of the week makes a half decent name. [name_f]Monday[/name_f] is soft and gentle, but when it comes down to it, who would want to be named after the thing everyone dreads?

4th Place: [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f]

A bit of a controversial take, this Addams family day name definitely sits around the middle ranks. [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] has that cool W- beginning, but the gothic vibes (and tough spelling) may be just a little bit too much for some parents. Like many media-popularized names, [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] is very cool, just a little too connected with one specific character.

The Top Three

3rd Place: [name_m]Friday[/name_m]

[name_m]Friday[/name_m] is definitely the sleeper pick of the -day names. He’s got that cool, wild west, cowboy vibe, but could also make a fresh, almost preppy choice for a girl. With his unique-yet-familiar feel, [name_m]Friday[/name_m] can appeal to parents of all different naming styles. [name_m]Just[/name_m] be careful though, because in some accents, this lovely name may sound more like “fried egg”.

2nd Place: [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f]

In a bit of a surprise, the most inconspicuous day of the week snags the number two leaderboard spot. [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f] really fits the bill as a true day NAME - she has a lot of fun, peppy energy, popular sounds, and an unusual flair. [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f] is not too popular yet, but she’d make a fantastic name pick.

And the winner is…

1st Place: [name_f]Sunday[/name_f]

In no surprise, first place goes to the second best day of the week - [name_f]Sunday[/name_f]. [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] has made its debut on the celebrity baby name charts, and now it’s time to make its debut on yours. She’s so lovely and feminine, offers a wide variety of nicknames, can have religious connotation or not, and is overall just gorgeous. [name_u]An[/name_u] amazing name that would make a great choice for any girl.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] you all enjoyed

I think my list (best to worst) would be:
[name_f]Tuesday[/name_f], [name_m]Thursday[/name_m], [name_f]Sunday[/name_f], [name_m]Friday[/name_m], [name_f]Monday[/name_f], [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f], [name_m]Saturday[/name_m].

Aww. My sweet Saturday! I used to have Saturday Leda “Sally” on my list — she was one of my favorites for years

I love hearing your opinions on these! I think my current favorite is the lovely Thursday “Thora” — she feels quirky and fun and just the right amount of clunky!

  1. [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f] – not my favorite day of the week, but definitely the best sound-wise imo! I think it is the “u” sound (I mean, I already love names like [name_u]Rudy[/name_u], [name_m]Rupert[/name_m], [name_u]June[/name_u], [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], etc. Clearly it is an appealing sound for me.)
  2. [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] – my favorite day of the week, and the nickname [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] is adorable! The reason it isn’t number one is because it makes me think a lot of ice cream sundaes, and [name_f]Sundae[/name_f] just seems like a cheesy dog name to me.
  3. [name_m]Thursday[/name_m] – this seems really cool for a boy! The nickname [name_m]Thor[/name_m] is really cool as well.
  4. [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] – I’m sorry, but this isn’t great imo. The spelling has always bothered me, though I guess it allows for the nickname Ness, which is quite cute. [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] also works, so a lot can be done with the name.
  5. [name_m]Friday[/name_m] – it sounds cool. Not super name-y to me, but cool.
  6. [name_f]Monday[/name_f] – this is usually people’s least day of the week, so I wouldn’t ever use it as a name. Objectively, the sound isn’t that bad, and I guess [name_u]Monty[/name_u] could work as a nickname.
  7. [name_m]Saturday[/name_m] – cool, but it doesn’t sound like a name to me. I could be persuaded, though.

[name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] has to be my top day name, hands down! the character actually makes the name more usable imo—still gothic, but recognizable. I quite like the sound, I like the character, and it has a vibe of rebelliousness that I find undeniably cool.

[name_f]Tuesday[/name_f] would be a somewhat distant second. for me, I’ll always have a soft spot for the day because I was born on a [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f], but it doesn’t have an association that makes it feel like an actual name to me.

I can’t get past the religious association with [name_f]Sunday[/name_f], so I strongly dislike that one personally. but I think the right person could pull off [name_f]Sundae[/name_f]? or there was a contestant on America’s Next Top Model named Sundai who wore the name really well!

Friday… im afraid I can’t get behind that one! the urge to sing [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] [name_m]Black[/name_m] whenever they walk into the room… it’s too strong.

This was fun to read!

[name_f]My[/name_f] rankings from worst to best:

[name_m]Thursday[/name_m] → not my fave sound and it reminds me of that ‘I’m thirsty’ ‘I’m Friday’ thing

[name_m]Saturday[/name_m] → I like [name_u]Saturn[/name_u] and [name_m]Saturday[/name_m] is a good day, but I don’t feel it quite rolls off the tongue as a name

[name_m]Friday[/name_m] → it does feel cool, but the ‘man-Friday’/Robinson [name_m]Crusoe[/name_m] vibes aren’t it

[name_f]Tuesday[/name_f] → I like the sounds and think it could work. Loses points because I never liked Tuesdays

[name_f]Monday[/name_f] → pretty cute in sound. Could have nn [name_f]May[/name_f], [name_f]Maisy[/name_f]?

[name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] → I like the gothic, witchy vibes

[name_f]Sunday[/name_f] → bright, sweet, namey and sunny

I enjoyed reading this! If I were to rank them, [name_m]Thursday[/name_m] would always be my number one.

The rest would be:
2. [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f]
3. [name_m]Friday[/name_m]
4. [name_m]Saturday[/name_m]
5. [name_f]Sunday[/name_f]
6. [name_f]Monday[/name_f] - I don’t really like the sound, but I like the moon association and I think the start of the week thing is cool, sort of symbolising new beginnings!
7. [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f]

Oooo this is interesting, I love your ideas! In my opinion, from worst to best:
7 - Tuesday: Sounds like chews-day in my accent so it doesn’t really fit as a name.
6 - Saturday: Love the day of the week, just doesn’t fit right as a name for me. It feels kind of linguistically unbalanced to me.
5 - Sunday: I’ve seen this work on some people and its cute! I just can’t get past the religious associations.
4 - Monday: I could see it working and like the symbolism for new beginnings, just not for me.
3 - Thursday: I can totally see a cool girl with this name, nm Thora.
2 - Wednesday: The iconic character kind of adds to the vibe? Its unique and kind of sounds like Wren which I like, with nm Wen/ Ness
1 - Friday: I automatically think of my favourite childhood book Friday Barnes, and thats a vibe I love. Its edgy, and nm Frida?

i totally agree with you on sunday!! :sunflower: my ranking would be:

  1. sunday- sweet, gives the nickname sunny, and ties in with my [name_u]Christian[/name_u] faith!
  2. monday- i think the sound and look of monday is so sweet. i honestly love mondays, so i wouldn’t mind using it!
  3. tuesday- in my accent it’s ‘chewsday’ and unfortunately i’ve seen one too many ‘it’s chewsday innit’ memes to put her on my list :smiling_face_with_tear:
  4. wednesday- i like the nicknames, but the name itself is a bit too gothic for my liking!
5, 6 and 7. friday, thursday & saturday- don’t really seem like names to me.

[name_f]My[/name_f] best to worst:

  1. [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f] - honestly, because it’s my cat’s name and she is my actual child. Totally biased here lmao.
  2. [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] - I think it just works the best! It’s bright and sunny.
  3. [name_f]Monday[/name_f] - dark horse pick, but I just love the sound. It somehow just feels good to say. It does have a slightly dreary feel though.
  4. [name_m]Friday[/name_m] - another slightly dark horse; I can see [name_m]Friday[/name_m] starting to be used within the next few years.
  5. [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] - never been a fan tbh, it gives “I’m trying hard to be ~different~” vibes and the sound doesn’t really sound namey to me.
  6. [name_m]Thursday[/name_m] - doesn’t really sound like a name and [name_m]Thursday[/name_m] is, like, kind of an irrelevant day of the week if that makes sense lol
  7. [name_m]Saturday[/name_m] - just not really a name
