Too out there? I’m in love with it at the moment.
I think it makes a dashing middle name, but it’s a lot to carry as a first name. I still like it, though.
My sister’s favorite name! It is a bit out there, but not enough to avoid using it. Besides, there is something about the nickname Wolfie that brings it back down to earth.
I was thinking maybe using it as a middle name, but still using Wolfie as a nickname. Maybe [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m], or [name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m]. I’m not sure. I do really love it as a first name but not sure what reaction it would get. My LO is [name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] and I often call him by his middle name so it wouldn’t be weird to do the same again.
If it’s just in the middle and you’ll likely say [name_m]Wolf[/name_m] or Wolfie, why not just [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_m]Wolf[/name_m]? or [name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_m]Wolf[/name_m]? I love [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] nn Wolfie. I think enough semi-celebrity families are using it to bring it into the mainstream.
I like [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] better than just [name_m]Wolf[/name_m]. I wouldn’t use [name_m]Wolf[/name_m] as a middle name alone.
This is my husband’s and my son’s middle name. Very strong, very identifiable. It would be a lot for a first name, I think, but I have known two people with it. One went by Wolfie and the other by the full [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] (he was only 5 when I met him, too!). I think it works ok!
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it! Wolfie for little boy, and then [name_m]Wolf[/name_m] when he’s older? This has long been a weakness of mine!
I grew up with a Wolfie (full name [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m]). I had such a crush on his name! He was nice too, but his name stood out amongst all the ‘80s babies! I love it! I actually want to use it to honor my grandpa…but that is a long way of as my husband and I are “not there yet”
I guess I’m in the minority here, but Wolfie sounds like the name of a little kid’s stuffed animal to me, like doggy, kitty, ducky? I can’t really picture it on a person, but [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] is not really my style anyway. If I were to use it, I’d probably use [name_m]Wolf[/name_m] not Wolfie as a nickname.
[name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] is such a grandpa name. So i guess it’s fine to put it in the middle if you really like it that much, but it’s just not for a modern boy.
I love [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] but much prefer [name_m]Wolf[/name_m] as the diminutive of choice.
I agree with this. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] but much prefer [name_m]Wolf[/name_m] as the diminutive of choice. Wolfie sounds overly juvenile, even for a toddler. And for what it’s worth, yes it’s a lot of name to carry, but that’s also what would make it an amazing first in my humble opinion. Most parents are too timid to consider it, which almost certainly means there won’t be three of them on his class roster.
I absolutely adore [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m]! The musical connection, and the nn [name_m]Wolf[/name_m] or Wolfie are so great. It is out there, but I’ve got way more unusual names on my list. It’s such a handsome and intelligent sounding name (which outweighs the not so great gang syllable).
I love Wolfie/[name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m]! I considered it with my first but there are a LOT of Wolfies in my area (strangely). So no, it’s not out-there at all.
