My brother has named his son Lufian in honour of our Anglo-[name_m]Saxon[/name_m] heritage. This prompted my interest in exploring other options which could fit or are still used today. So far I like [name_m]Alfred[/name_m], [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m], [name_m]Oswin[/name_m], Warian, [name_m]Wynstan[/name_m], [name_m]Edward[/name_m], [name_m]Edwin[/name_m], [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] and [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]. What are you thoughts? Does anyone have any further suggestions?
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m] - Batman! sorry… a little out-dated, so I prefer as mn.
[name_m]Wilfred[/name_m] - too old to my taste
[name_m]Oswin[/name_m] - nice. lil [name_m]Oz[/name_m] or [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m]
Warian - warrior? seems a surname to me. better as a mn
[name_m]Edward[/name_m] - nice and common
[name_m]Edwin[/name_m] - I think about [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m]'s owl, [name_f]Hedwig[/name_f]…
[name_m]Edgar[/name_m] - [name_u]LOVE[/name_u]!
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] - nice name. [name_m]Edmond[/name_m] spelling is also nice.
RANK:
1- [name_m]Edgar[/name_m]
2- [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]/ [name_m]Edmond[/name_m]
3- [name_m]Edward[/name_m]
4- [name_m]Oswin[/name_m]
5- [name_m]Alfred[/name_m]
6- [name_m]Edwin[/name_m]
7- [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m]
8- Warian
I like [name_m]Oswin[/name_m], [name_m]Edwin[/name_m], and [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] the best out of your list. I slightly prefer Warin to Warian only because the latter is more difficult for me to pronounce.
Another one I like from (Anglo-Saxon Names - Behind the Name) is Wulfric.
Thanks for feedback so far. I also like Warin - was it used in [name_m]Saxon[/name_m] [name_f]England[/name_f]? Nice to see a fan of [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] at last, although [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] is growing on me more and more. I wasn’t sure about [name_m]Oswin[/name_m], but it seems it may not be too unusual after all.
I would recommend checking out these databases: Names — Dictionary of Medieval Names from European Sources and Medieval Naming Guides: Old English
Thanks! I had a look through and I quite like [name_u]Alwin[/name_u], Alstan, [name_m]Oswald[/name_m], [name_m]Osric[/name_m], [name_m]Alric[/name_m], [name_m]Wilfrid[/name_m], Wulfric, Leofric, Oswulf, [name_m]Osmund[/name_m], Raedan and [name_m]Wynstan[/name_m]. I’m not sure I would consider honestly using any of these however, with the exception of [name_m]Wynstan[/name_m] (now added).
Bump for further thoughts/suggestions.

I like [name_m]Alfred[/name_m], [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m], [name_m]Oswin[/name_m], [name_m]Edward[/name_m], [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] and [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] from your list, my favourites being [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] and [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m].
I also like [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m], [name_m]Albert[/name_m], [name_m]Frederick[/name_m], [name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m], [name_m]Caspar[/name_m], [name_m]Everard[/name_m], [name_m]Ivor[/name_m], [name_m]Magnus[/name_m], [name_f]Melior[/name_f], [name_m]Milo[/name_m], [name_m]Osbert[/name_m], [name_m]Otto[/name_m], Reinmar, Reinger, [name_m]Rudolf[/name_m], [name_m]Sigmund[/name_m], [name_m]Sven[/name_m], [name_m]Theodor[/name_m], [name_m]Thorsten[/name_m], Wolfram.
I too find Anglo [name_m]Saxon[/name_m] names interesting, and particularly like looking back at the kings of [name_f]England[/name_f] from that time.
The name Sweyn (pronounced [name_m]Sven[/name_m]) is a name of an Anglo [name_m]Saxon[/name_m] [name_m]King[/name_m] of [name_f]England[/name_f] from 1013-1014. Although the name is originally Scandinavian, many Anglo [name_m]Saxon[/name_m] names have Scandinavian and [name_m]German[/name_m] origins. I feel that Sweyn is quite a useable boys name!
Sweyn is an interesting one, thank you!
I also like [name_m]Sigmund[/name_m]/Sigemund, though I think of Freud. I do like some of the other suggestions, although I’m not sure they are all Anglo-[name_m]Saxon[/name_m].
Thank you! I like [name_m]Cedric[/name_m], [name_m]Edric[/name_m], [name_m]Osgar[/name_m], [name_m]Osmund[/name_m], [name_m]Wilfrid[/name_m], Theodric, Oswulf, Athelstan and [name_m]Wulf[/name_m].
