Working on our baby names.

[name]Hi[/name] NB!

After TTC for over three years, my husband [name]Austin[/name] and I are expecting! I’m almost eight months and I’ve been messing around with names but haven’t decided on anything yet. We had names chosen for a boy and a girl a few months ago, but either we’ve fallen out of love with them or they’ve been used by people close to us. This is our first child, so we have a lot of options and ideas and not many limiting factors. We chose not to know what the gender of the baby is, so it’ll be a surprise.

I’m really interested in names that mean something - especially since this baby is so very important to us already and we went through so much in the process of this. Anything along the lines of miracle, happy, lucky, etc. I just think it’s a very cool idea, but it’s not a must. I love ‘G’ names and names ending in ‘er’ for boys (I have no clue why).

Our last name is [name]Brady[/name]. I’m not opposed to alliteration, but it definitely depends on the name. Name length can be anything, I’m not too picky about that. Names with nicknames are okay, but once again, it depends on the name/nickname. The popularity of the name isn’t a major issue.

This is the condensed version of my list, as it was pretty lengthy before.

Girls Names:
[name]Peyton[/name] - My absolute favorite so far. I like the male version as well, but definitely prefer it for a girl. It goes very nicely with our last name and DH loves it too.
[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] - [name]Love[/name] the NN [name]Josie[/name].
[name]Savannah[/name]
[name]Juliette[/name]
[name]Piper[/name]
[name]Whitney[/name]
[name]Mckenzie[/name]
[name]Mckenna[/name]
[name]Caitlyn[/name]

Boys Names:
[name]Greyson[/name] - I could see us using this one. NN [name]Grey[/name] is cute, although I wouldn’t use it by itself.
[name]Henry[/name] - I don’t absolutely love the ‘y’ endings ([name]Henry[/name] [name]Brady[/name]), but I think it sounds nice and I love the name [name]Henry[/name].
[name]Jude[/name]
[name]Nathan[/name]
[name]Isaac[/name]
[name]Finnian[/name]/[name]Ian[/name] - [name]Ian[/name] is a family name. I like [name]Finnian[/name] because it includes the name but adds a more modern twist. [name]Love[/name] the NN [name]Finn[/name].
[name]Luke[/name]
[name]Garrett[/name]
[name]Griffin[/name]
[name]Grant[/name]
[name]Parker[/name]
[name]Chase[/name]
[name]Tucker[/name] - [name]Love[/name] the NN [name]Tuck[/name].
[name]Logan[/name]
[name]Hunter[/name]

Any suggestions would be awesome! Thanks so much everyone.

Congrats on your first child! I think it’s a great idea to pick a name with meaning. There’s lots of ways you can do it without relying on the literal meaning of the name, though- are there any places, people, songs, ideas that are important to you and your husband? Maybe the circumstances of how you met came with a story, or there’s a person who’s been particularly important to one or both of you? Anyway, here’s what I think of your list:
[name]Peyton[/name] - This is one of my least favorites on your list. It’s very masculine to me, plus trendy and soon-to-be-dated.
[name]Claire[/name]- I love [name]Claire[/name]. I think it’s classic, sounds unlike any other name, and feminine but strong. That’s a great combination and this is a great name!
[name]Josephine[/name] - [name]Josie[/name] is cute and [name]Josephine[/name] is beautiful. Another great name!
[name]Savannah[/name]- Not my favorite name here. Like [name]Peyton[/name], it’s quite trendy and I think it’ll be dated in the future.
[name]Juliette[/name]- I love [name]Juliette[/name]! I like [name]Jules[/name] too.
[name]Piper[/name] - I prefer [name]Harper[/name], but [name]Piper[/name] is fine.
[name]Whitney[/name], [name]Caitlyn[/name]- These are both very 80’s to me.
[name]Mckenzie[/name], [name]Mckenna[/name]- “Mc” means “son of,” so I find the meaning of these names very unappealing. They’re also quite overused, in my opinion.

From this list, I love [name]Claire[/name], [name]Josephine[/name], and [name]Juliette[/name]. You might also like [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Claudia[/name], [name]Hope[/name], [name]Felicity[/name], [name]Rose[/name], [name]Megan[/name], [name]Colette[/name], [name]Keira[/name], [name]Alair[/name], [name]Maeve[/name].

[name]Greyson[/name] - Not my favorite, but not terrible. [name]Just[/name] really not my taste.
[name]Henry[/name] - [name]Henry[/name] is very classic and I like the nn options, especially [name]Hank[/name].
[name]Jude[/name]- [name]One[/name] of my favorites here. [name]Jude[/name] is very non-divisive- I think most people tend to like it or at least tolerate it.
[name]Nathan[/name], [name]Isaac[/name], [name]Luke[/name] - I like these.
[name]Finnian[/name]/[name]Ian[/name] - I like that this incorporates a family name, and I love the energy of [name]Finnian[/name].
[name]Garrett[/name], [name]Grant[/name], [name]Parker[/name], [name]Chase[/name], [name]Logan[/name]- There’s really nothing wrong with any of these names, but I think there are better options on the list.
[name]Griffin[/name] - A mythological monster, and I can’t separate the two here. With [name]Phoenix[/name], I manage to do it, maybe because the mythology of the [name]Phoenix[/name] is so beautiful, but with [name]Griffin[/name] I just can’t.
[name]Tucker[/name] - [name]Love[/name] the NN [name]Tuck[/name].- I really like the nn [name]Tuck[/name] too!
[name]Hunter[/name]- Sounds violent to me. I also always picture a [name]Hunter[/name] joining [name]PETA[/name] or becoming a Buddhist, which would be hysterical.

Some other names you may like: [name]Huxley[/name] nn [name]Huck[/name], [name]Archer[/name], [name]Flynn[/name], [name]Nico[/name], [name]Cole[/name], [name]Kieran[/name], [name]Jack[/name]. My favorites are [name]Jude[/name], [name]Finnian[/name], and [name]Henry[/name].

[name]Welcome[/name] to Nameberry and congrats on your pregnancy. From your list, I think these names would be best with your surname [name]Brady[/name].

[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Savannah[/name]
[name]Juliette[/name]

[name]Jude[/name]
[name]Isaac[/name]
[name]Finnian[/name]
[name]Luke[/name]
[name]Griffin[/name]

Congratulations!

My favorites from your list:
[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Piper[/name]

[name]Henry[/name]
[name]Isaac[/name]
[name]Luke[/name]
[name]Grant[/name]
[name]Tucker[/name] (only because the nn [name]Tuck[/name] is nifty sounding)

[name]Peyton[/name] [name]Brady[/name] makes me think you’d be a huge NFL fan, as in [name]Peyton[/name] [name]Manning[/name] and [name]Tom[/name] [name]Brady[/name]. Plus, it sounds pretty masculine to me. However, I love [name]Juliette[/name], [name]Josephine[/name], [name]Savannah[/name], [name]Greyson[/name], [name]Finnian[/name], and [name]Chase[/name].
