Our top boy name is [name_m]Graham[/name_m] but I’m having reservations since our last name is [name_m]Crawford[/name_m]. I’m worried that it may sound too similar to “[name_m]Graham[/name_m] Cracker” and he would be teased. Opinions? Am I overreacting?
I definitely wouldn’t come up with [name_m]Graham[/name_m] Cracker from your last name plus [name_m]Graham[/name_m], so I think you should be safe.
I think it’s possible he would get called that but not because of your last name…I think any kid named [name_m]Graham[/name_m] would get the same thing. It is a nice name though and I don’t necessarily think that should stop you from using it. Once the initial taunt is out, there really is nowhere else to go with it,so it shouldn’t be too bad.
I agree that he would be teased no matter what his last name was. I had a teacher in middle school named Mr. [name_m]Graham[/name_m], and a lot of the kids called him [name_m]Graham[/name_m] cracker.
I would hesitate to even call it teasing but I do see the potential of elementary school children occasionally calling him [name_m]Graham[/name_m] crackers but that can happen with almost any name. I heard a little girl named [name_f]Anna[/name_f] being called [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Banana[/name_f] but in an affectionate way by her family. It wouldn’t be something that would stick so I personally wouldn’t worry about it but it depends on how much it bothers you. And who doesn’t like Graham crackers. It’s not like it’s a brand of toilet bowl cleaner.
I don’t see how [name_m]Crawford[/name_m] could be turned into cracker. I think [name_m]Graham[/name_m] in general might cause people to think of graham crackers, but I don’t think many people would tease him. It’s not like it’s a bad association or a bad nickname.
