[name_m]Hi[/name_m]!
Really loving [name_f]Alice[/name_f] right now.
Only issue is, would it get shortened to [name_m]Al[/name_m]? That sounds like L which I don’t like.
I’ve never heard it being shortened this way, and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is quite short and doesn’t need a nickname.
However, people at least in my area love shortening everything.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_f]Alice[/name_f] would be shortened?
Thank you
i really doubt it - i know a lot of alices, and from my experience, they’ve never been shortened. one alice i knew in primary school went by ali, but i think that was her own choice, and to distinguish her from the other alice. as far as i’m aware, none of the alices i know have their names shortened, and if i were to try, i wouldn’t go for al.
I don’t think so. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is a short name that is pretty nickname-proof, and I don’t know any Alices that have been called [name_m]Al[/name_m].
I don’t think so … unless maybe I was around a person named [name_f]Alice[/name_f] all the time– for instance, my sister is named [name_u]Allison[/name_u], and I call her [name_m]Al[/name_m] sometimes, simply because it’s faster than saying her full, three syllable name. (She hates it though )
[name_u]Allie[/name_u] seems more likely but it is possible
i don’t think so? my cousin alice i know as allie (though i think she goes by alice as well), and my great grandma alice i’m pretty sure is just alice as well.
Nope.
i don’t know an [name_f]Alice[/name_f] personally but i have always loved the name. i think the common nickname seems to be [name_u]Ali[/name_u] or [name_u]Allie[/name_u] or any other form of the spelling. but i could also see it being shortened as [name_f]Lissa[/name_f], Liss, or just A.
I have only known of one [name_f]Alice[/name_f] to get a nickname on her own wishes which was Liss
I knew an [name_f]Alice[/name_f] for 13 years, since the day they were born! Never once called [name_m]Al[/name_m].
No, I don’t think so - unless it really suited the child. I’ve never heard it before though
I think it’s highly unlikely. I’ve never known an [name_f]Alice[/name_f] who gets shortened to this yet, although I have known a few who go by [name_u]Ali[/name_u].
Never come across it myself!
No, I have a 1,5 yo [name_f]Alice[/name_f] in my family, the only nickname she ever goes by is Alunia from the Polish side of her family including me, however she’s just [name_f]Alice[/name_f] to every other person out there.
Now , with nicknames it’s tricky because if her name does get shortened to [name_m]Al[/name_m] among her friends or some volleyball teammates of any sort, you as a mother can rarely do anything about it because kids will be kids and teens will be teens. So if you absolutely cannot stand the thought of her name being shortened to [name_m]Al[/name_m], you should probably avoid the name because it might happen. However, imho it’s very unlikely.
All Alice’s I knew were nicknamed [name_u]Ali[/name_u]. [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_u]Allie[/name_u].
As someone who loves the nickname [name_m]Al[/name_m], but likes less [name_u]Allie[/name_u], if you chose [name_f]Alice[/name_f], yes, I would nickname you [name_m]Al[/name_m] (I nicknamed [name_m]Al[/name_m] an [name_f]Allegra[/name_f], an [name_m]Alberto[/name_m], an [name_m]Alfred[/name_m], basically) unless you specified otherwise. XD
I don’t think so
I don’t think [name_m]Al[/name_m] is intuitive for [name_f]Alice[/name_f] .
