I am not naming a child, I just want some opinions. For the lognest time, I have been obsessed with nicknames for a girl that end with al. Mostly [name]Cal[/name] or [name]Sal[/name], maybe even [name]Hal[/name] or [name]Tal[/name]. The thing is–I have no idea why! I’ve always liked masculine names for girls, but they have to offer something else. These are just simple three-letter names the old men go by! [name]Do[/name] you think I’m crazy or is there actually an appeal?
There are tons of options for [name]Cal[/name]. My prsonal favorite is [name]Calloway[/name]. But [name]Sal[/name], the only thing I can come up with is the surname Salloway. I think it’s really pretty actually. I sarted thinking about [name]Sal[/name] becuase [name]Cal[/name] is kind of harsh-soudning.
But what do you think of just calling a girl [name]Sal[/name] or [name]Cal[/name]? And do you have any other full name sugestions?
[name]Cal[/name] or [name]Sal[/name] as full names would definitely not work. I’m sorry but I can barely find them appealing as nicknames. I like Halloway - which is a palce in [name]London[/name] (I think!) - [name]Calloway[/name] and Salloway sound hideously made up. The first full name I thought of for [name]Sal[/name] was [name]Sally[/name], I suppose you could dress up to be [name]Sally[/name]-[name]Ann[/name] or something. For [name]Cal[/name] you could use [name]Callie[/name], or even [name]Caroline[/name] for the full name.
I like [name]Cal[/name] for a girl, as an alternative for [name]Callie[/name]. I prefer [name]Callaway[/name] over [name]Calloway[/name], but that’s personal preference. Some other [name]Cal[/name] names are [name]Callista[/name], Calpurnia, [name]Calvina[/name], or even [name]California[/name] if you are really adventurous!
For [name]Cal[/name] you could use [name]Calliope[/name] or [name]Caledonia[/name].
For [name]Sal[/name] all I can think of is [name]Sally[/name] which is cute, and feels kind of vintagy.
For [name]Hal[/name] maybe [name]Halcyon[/name].
For [name]Tal[/name] you could use [name]Tallulah[/name] or [name]Thalia[/name].
[name]Calloway[/name] is completely a boys name to me.
Alternatively, on the off chance that your last name begins with L you could create the initials of [name]CAL[/name], [name]SAL[/name], [name]HAL[/name] or [name]TAL[/name], or use two middles to create those initials with the first and middle names.
They could work for a nickname, but I think the full name would have to be clearly female (ie, not [name]Calloway[/name] or Salloway…both sound masculine and Salloway especially sounds very unattractive to my ear). I like [name]Calliope[/name], [name]Calista[/name], or [name]Sally[/name] for the full name.
Thanks for the suggetions! I’ve never heard of [name]Halcyon[/name] or [name]Caledonia[/name], but I love how mythical they sound. Plus, I [name]LOVE[/name] the initial idea! I’ve never thought of that before. Thanks!
I like [name]Cal[/name] for a girl, kind of reminds me of [name]Scout[/name] - tomboyish and fresh.
I have always loved the name [name]Pascal[/name] for a girl (the correct girl spelling is [name]Pascale[/name] - though I love it more without the “e” personally).
[name]Cal[/name] is cute as a nn, lots of good fn suggestions above. [name]Sal[/name] is cute too, reminds me of Blueberries for [name]Sal[/name]. i seriously dislike Salloway (or [name]Calloway[/name]) though. You could use it for one of these though-
