naming your son [name]Nazareth[/name]? Or is that just [name]WAY[/name] too far fetched?
A little out there. But sounds good. I’d consider it but it’s not my style.
I think you could get away with it, but I would use it as a middle name. What do you name a sibling to [name]Nazareth[/name]?
ETA: Nicknames could be (these will be a tad stretchy) [name]Nate[/name], [name]Nat[/name], [name]Ari[/name], [name]Zan[/name], or [name]Rhett[/name].
I’ve spent way too much time buried in the SSA lists of the last 130 years, but with that caveat it’s out there but probably not way too out there. I think I’ve seen it used by small numbers of kids (like 5 or so) in some years. Nazar is used in Russian and [name]Nazario[/name] in Spanish and Italian, and [name]Nazarius[/name] was a late Latin name.
Not sure it lends itself to nicknames…I agree the sound is pleasing.
It’s TOO out there for my tastes and it’s very religious, which would make me uncomfortable… but if those two things don’t bother you then use it
I could see it working in the right family but I find it too religious for my personal taste. If it is the right name for you go for it! Good luck
I think it would be awesome as a middle name! I can’t quite decide if I think it’s too heavy to work as a first name or not. It’s sort of borderline for me in that respect. I actually think that some of the variants that jesba mentioned, like Nazar, seem as if they might be easier to wear as first names.
When i was in high school I knew a [name]Nazareth[/name]! Totally usable, didn’t hurt he was super cute and just an awesome guy
I find it a bit out there for a first name, but think it’s wearable in the middle. I did teach a Greek girl named Nazaret, though (no h), and thought it was pretty.
I actually like it…
It’s not too much a stretch when you think of all the popular place name names.
I’d make sure before you use it that you have some ideas of more common nicknames if your son didnt want to always be [name]Nazareth[/name] in school. He might [name]LOVE[/name] his unique name, or he might want a way to blend in a bit sometimes. Naz, [name]Nate[/name], Nazar, Neth, Reth, Zeth, [name]Seth[/name]…there are possibilities.
Thanks for the replies! I was really just curious what you all would have to say about it. I do like some unique names and I do think it has a nice sound. Also I am a christian so I like religious names. In fact thats one thing I like about it. Its biblical but unique instead of the regular [name]John[/name], [name]Paul[/name], [name]Mark[/name] etc… I just don’t think I could quite use it. And DH just rolled his eyes. LOL. Interesting to see what you other berries said though.
