I am 6 months pregnant but would love to settle on a cool name for our son. It would be nice to be able to refer to him (at home) with my husband. I have blogged before about [name]Killian[/name], which I love, but am just trying to feel out some other options, I love [name]Felix[/name], [name]Silas[/name], and [name]Otto[/name] is a new favorite too.I’m feeling like maybe if I had a middle name for [name]Killian[/name] that I loved, it may put me over the edge and I would use it. Any cool name ideas that are short and soft sounding? Also just opinions in general on the others. Thanks a lot!

I find the Kill in [name]Killian[/name] just too much. [name]Kieran[/name] would be similar but I couldn’t touch [name]Killian[/name].
Where we live the garbage bins are called [name]Otto[/name] bins so that is out too (for me).
[name]Silas[/name] on the other hand is great and not overused.

I don’t really mind the name [name]Killian[/name]. I knew a boy called Keller, don’t know about [name]Kellan[/name].
[name]Otto[/name], also not bad, not necessarily. I think this is kind of daring and like [name]Oscar[/name] or [name]Jasper[/name], kind of funky (in the good way). I’m told I have an ancestor with this name.
However, [name]Killian[/name] [name]Otto[/name] as a name - first off, the middle names do not really get in the way of anything, not too many people hear the name all together, so [name]Otto[/name] is there but not really anything everyone hears when they think of this child. I don’t know what the last name is… [name]Killian[/name] [name]Otto[/name] comes out like Killianato, I don’t know what that means, but it has some sort of word-like, officianado, it sounds like it elongates the name [name]Killian[/name] into some sort of expert or authority at being a [name]Killian[/name]. Again, unsubstantiated and meaningless, but I don’t know if you think that would be even cooler or kind of awkward, just pointing it out.

Of your choices, I prefer [name]Silas[/name], and I like the suggestions of [name]Kieran[/name] and [name]Kellan[/name] as [name]Killian[/name] substitutes. For what it’s worth, my first thought when it comes to [name]Killian[/name] isn’t “kill;” it’s actor [name]Cillian[/name] [name]Murphy[/name]. The alternate spelling could alleviate the kill association in print but not in sound. If you like short, soft sounds, have you considered [name]Ian[/name] as a first name?

I know most of you are less than thrilled with the name [name]Killian[/name], but
for some reason it is just one of those names, for me, that just speaks to me.
So I guess my fear is that I will either regret not using it, if we don’t have any more boys, or I’ll regret using it b/c most people may be offended by the “kill” part. I really like [name]Silas[/name], but feel like it may continue to grow in popularity. I think [name]Felix[/name] is just cool and will hopefully just be one of those names that is used but never over used. I think [name]Otto[/name] is cool and am still processing it. Thanks for all your input on my choices.
I think if you went with [name]Silas[/name] [name]Killian[/name] you will have solved your problem and it makes a lovely combo.
