Honestly, that’s impossible to predict. Everyone’s different, and your daughter may end up loving your name and she may end up hating it. She may end up meeting kids who tease her over it or she might not. It’s really up to chance.
I think that one thing that’s great about [name]Clarity[/name] is that she could go by [name]Clarity[/name], which is a bit more uncommon, or if she felt insecure about having an uncommon name she could go by [name]Claire[/name] and [name]Clara[/name]. There are options there, so that’s a really great thing to give your daughter.
Personally, I really like [name]Clarity[/name].
I love the name [name]Clarity[/name] (though I would use it in the middle)!
[name]Clarity[/name] is unusual but I think it’s a very sweet virtue name that’s definitely usable. Personally, I would feel fine if my parents named me [name]Clarity[/name] and that’s how I test most names. Go for it!
I voted no, I don’t think she’d hate it. So many of the -ity names ([name]Verity[/name], [name]Felicity[/name], etc.) are so sweet and vintage and charming, and I would think an -ity name would be so much fun to have! [name]Clarity[/name] feels more artsy than just [name]Claire[/name] or [name]Clara[/name], and I think she could still go by the mainstream [name]Claire[/name]/[name]Clare[/name] easily. It’s a fabulous choice.
It took me a while to warm up to it from your posts, but I do think it’s a quite fabulous choice.
Good luck!
I don’t think she’d hate it, and if she didn’t like it she could always go by [name]Clare[/name].
I don’t think she would hate it. I find the name [name]Clarity[/name] to be very pretty, and she could go by [name]Claire[/name] as a short form if she wanted. [name]How[/name] could she possibly hate such a lovely name?
I don’t think it’s hate-worthy :D. I think it’s quite pretty and like others have said, if she is not super-fond of it she has the option of [name]Claire[/name] or [name]Clara[/name]. I have never hated my own name ([name]Jessica[/name]), but as I never really took to it either I’m grateful even for just [name]Jess[/name] (which I do take to, it just fits better), and [name]Claire[/name]/[name]Clara[/name] is kind of so much cooler for being its own name as well as a nickname.
I can think of the following minor drawbacks:
It will probably get heard as [name]Charity[/name], [name]Clara[/name] D. (if your’e in the US), or [name]Cara[/name] D sometimes…
My friend [name]Charity[/name] is sometimes annoyed when she overhears others saying expressions like “I gave it to charity…” because she thinks she’s being summoned. With [name]Clarity[/name] that is probably rarer, but there are especially like in high school and college writing classes things like “this writing lacks clarity” - might be especially annoying if she ever struggles to write clearly, but, honestly, we’re getting pretty far into the hypotheticals by that point.
If either of the above bugs you and you have another name you like, middle name might be a good consideration, but otherwise, I think it’s pretty and you’re good to go!
