Would sisters named Holly and Ivy be that bad?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone, I am new here!
I have a [name_f]Holly[/name_f] already and I absolutely love the name [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], but I realize that they sound a bit “too much” together.
The catch is that there will be almost 16 years age difference between them and they have 2 other siblings (without plant names), therefore I think it would be okay.
What do you think honestly?
Thanks!

Well, I have to admit that I did start humming the old [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] tune to myself.

[name_m]Even[/name_m] though there is an age gap, you will undoubtedly have times when only those two children are with you, or are the only two in a photo together, and that will emphasize the similarity of the names. The age gap and other siblings won’t dampen the effect nearly as much as you think. But it’s still not the worst thing ever.

I know sisters [name_f]Holly[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and I never thought those were “too much.” [name_m]Just[/name_m] naturey.

Good luck!

I like both [name_f]Holly[/name_f] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] separately, and they borderline work together, but I think you will encounter many-a-raised eyebrow using both.

Perhaps if you shared what your other two kids are named, we could suggest some more compatible names.

For an [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]-like sound, the first thing that comes to my mind is [name_f]Evie[/name_f].
For a similar nature-based name that is underused, I like [name_f]Mavis[/name_f].

Hmm, I think they are a little bit too similar. They are both nature (plant) names & both have 2 syllables & end the same way. I feel like you can branch out (hehe) & look at other nature names with a different sound, or find a name with a similar sound and a different theme. But I think its a bit excessive to do BOTH.

Good luck!

Ps - I love [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] too.

I thought they were too matchy even before the carol came into my head. I would use one in the middle [or even both] so you still have both names but it isn’t so…Christmassy.

In this case I don’t think you can use it given it makes most people think of a [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] carol. I agree with perhaps [name_f]Evie[/name_f] or something similar .

I love [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] also:)… maybe you could use it as a middle…

[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Samantha[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]

[name_m]Just[/name_m] a suggestion… I would not use [name_f]Holly[/name_f] with [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] as a first name… too Christmasy …as
pp stated…

Good luck!

It seems a bit too much

I’d put [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] in the middle spot to avoid too strong of a connection. Sorry!

Speaking hypothetically, I would have said it’s too much, but I actually know two sisters named [name_f]Holly[/name_f] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. My real life reaction was that it was no big deal. Sure, there was the initial “Oh, two plant names,” but then I didn’t give it another thought. I’m sure they must get comments about it and some friendly teasing, and it’s not the most subtle connection in the world, but it could be worse. [name_f]Heaven[/name_f] and [name_u]Angel[/name_u] would be bad, haha.
