So my extremely picky husband has decided that he is head over heels in love with the name [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] ([name_m]Lock[/name_m]-lan) [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. I’m ok with this, our 6 year old is also on board but only if his nickname can be [name_u]Lucky[/name_u]!
Is it to far of a stretch ? Any other nickname suggestions?
Our girls choice is [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] “[name_f]Vera[/name_f]”
I like [name_u]Lucky[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m]. But I consider [name_u]Lucky[/name_u] as one of those nicknames that doesn’t need to come from the sounds of the given name. Anyone can be a [name_u]Lucky[/name_u].
I think [name_u]Lucky[/name_u] is a great nickname for [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m].
Other nns I can see:
[name_u]Lane[/name_u], or maybe [name_u]Cal[/name_u] ?
I think [name_u]Lucky[/name_u] for [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] would be quite cute, but I have to say, is your son naming him? You should be able to use the name regardless of what he wants the nickname to be. As far as other nicknames I think [name_m]Lock[/name_m] would probably be the most common.
I think [name_u]Lucky[/name_u] is an adorable nickname for [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m], especially while he is a kid! I’m sure there will be other nicknames too and ultimately your child will decide what he/she wants people to call him/her.
If [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] decides on [name_m]Lock[/name_m] or [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] decides on [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], then that is the right choice for them. Or if they decide to go with a different nickname or without one at all. Everyone decides for themselves what they like to be called.
[name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] is such a nice name and personally, that’s what I would call him. [name_m]Lock[/name_m] is a natural nn so it sounds fine as well and I think it’s cute to let his brother use [name_u]Lucky[/name_u] as a nn, but sometimes nicknames stick permanently and [name_m]Lochlan[/name_m] may not appreciate that name as an adult.
I agree that [name_m]Lock[/name_m], [name_u]Lane[/name_u], and possibly [name_u]Cal[/name_u] are options. [name_u]Lucky[/name_u] is really cute, but I would definitely NOT make the decision based on a 6-year-old’s opinion. He will have a his chance to name his own children someday. My parents didn’t give me the option to name siblings, and my kids don’t get the option to name their siblings. It’s the job of the parents, so in the end, go with the thing that YOU and your husband love.
I think [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] nn [name_u]Lucky[/name_u] is adorable! I personally wouldn’t use any nn for [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m], but I would let your six-year-old have it. [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] is stunning, btw!
