Would this be too cutesy/silly?

I was watching Lady and the Tramp the other day with my daughter (I was more interested than her…) and the names of the couple who own Lady were “[name]Jim[/name] Dear” and “Darling.” And that got me thinking how many Disney characters either have the last name or nickname Darling… and being the obsessive Disney fan that I am, I’m thinking of using the name Darling as a middle name for another daughter. I would probably have to pair it with a slightly serious first name so it didn’t come off as frou-frou or marshmallowy. [name]Even[/name] though [name]Cora[/name] Darling would be adorable… WDYT? Usable, or no?

I think its lovely!

I think it’s definitely useable.

Soo adorable!

Sorry, I don’t like it. [name]Even[/name] if it was in the middle, I’d find a lawyer or politician named [name]Cora[/name] Darling [name]Jones[/name] (just an example surname) rather hard to imagine.

I’ve considered it too. I think it’s cute. I knew someone whose last name was Darling and it didn’t seem unprofessional. However if your darling daughter did feel that it was holding her back in a serious career, she could switch to [name]Cora[/name] D. [name]Jones[/name] on her paperwork and business cards.

[name]Way[/name], way too sugary for my taste… But, it’s a middle, so I suppose it’d be fine.

Awesome as a mn!

Ahhh you’re like me! I fell in love with the word Darling last year and thought about using it as a middle.

I posted a thread on here as well, I’ll try to find it for you.
I recall some negative posts, saying it was too silly or something. I still love the idea, but I do think it’s a bit cutesy. Then again, Darling is also a legitimate surname.

Wayyyy too cutesy. Lady’s owners may have referred to each other by those names but they’re just common pet names. Jim is obviously James and I don’t think we hear the woman’s name. Darling can be embarrassing enough as a surname so I wouldn’t include it as a middle name when there’s no need.

It’s too much of a pet name/nickname in the UK, and it’s often used to greet people so I just don’t see it working as a name.

I don’t think its cutesy at all. I love the name [name]Cora[/name] and daring/cutesy middle names as well! [name]Cora[/name] Darling is a lovely combo!

[name]Bree[/name]

Yes, it’s too cutesy/silly, in my opinion. I can’t picture a strong adult woman suiting the name ‘Darling’, even in the middle.

I can see the appeal, but personally I wouldn’t do it, because you haven’t done something similar for your first daughter…

Darling is kind of cute as a middle name but maybe you could use [name]Darlene[/name]. It has a similar sound but feels more legitimate.

Its really cutesy…excuse me I just puked a little bit.

Too cutesy for me. It’s just one of those middle names I’d hate to have myself. [name]One[/name] I’d never tell anyone. But maybe just because I’ve never been a Disney [name]Princess[/name] oder Ballerina Girl. Then again, maybe your daugher won’t be either. I mean I don’t think it’s cruel to give it to a child, after all it’s just a middle. I just think that one type of girl will love it, the other might hate it.

I like it.
In the middle.
Hardly anyone she meets in a professional setting (which is where people are saying it won’t work) will know her middle name. I also think it’s importnt to remember that she’s more than possibly a career woman. I think choosing your childs name based on what type of profession she/he might want to get into, and whether or not it would ‘fit’ with people’s opinion of which names are expected to be found in that profession is just a little ridiculous. In a professional setting, a middle name is a detail!

I like it! Mn spot only. It could be misheard as [name]Darlene[/name].

I think it’s too much, I mean darling is a pet name, the movie was from the view of the dog, so of course Lady only picked up on what the couple called each other and not their real names!

To me you can just call her “my darling [name]Cora[/name]” when she’s little, why make it part of her name?
