Would this be weird?

If baby #4 is a girl, our current favorite name is [name]Catherine[/name] (a.k.a., [name]Katie[/name] or [name]Kate[/name], or possibly [name]Cate[/name]). But we already have a [name]William[/name] (he goes by [name]Will[/name]).

Siblings named [name]Will[/name] and [name]Kate[/name] (along with [name]James[/name] and [name]Elise[/name]). Is this too creepy? Or do you not necessarily think of the royals immediately?

Thanks!

I do not think having a [name]Will[/name], [name]James[/name], [name]Elise[/name] and [name]Kate[/name] would be strange. Because of the multiple other siblings, it lowers that connection. I think calling her [name]Katie[/name] or spelling her name [name]Cate[/name] allows that connection to dissipate even further. I think two siblings named [name]Will[/name] and [name]Kate[/name] would be strange - but [name]William[/name], [name]James[/name], [name]Elise[/name], and [name]Katie[/name]/[name]Cate[/name]/[name]Catherine[/name] is perfectly fine. I actually think that [name]Will[/name] and [name]Kate[/name] are great names together - despite the connection, they are classic names that go well together and THAN the prince and duchess.

If you named your twins [name]Will[/name] and [name]Cate[/name], people might a bit like ‘oh, that’s… interesting’. But given that you have other children in the mix, and they’re both classic names, I wouldn’t bat an eyelid over it.

Our top choices are [name]William[/name] and [name]Catherine[/name] so obviously I think it’s fine, especially with [name]James[/name] and [name]Elise[/name] also in the sibset. Like the previous poster said, they’re classic names that go very well together, and using [name]Katie[/name] or [name]Cate[/name] for the nickname might help make the connection less noticeable.

I might hesitate using the name for twins, though! (Which isn’t an issue in your case.)

[name]Catherine[/name] and [name]William[/name] are super common, traditional names. Unless you plan on calling them [name]Will[/name] and [name]Kate[/name], I wouldn’t come up with the connection immediately.
