Would this be weird?

My stepmother’s name is [name_f]Clara[/name_f]; however, she goes by her middle name. I really like the name [name_f]Clara[/name_f], but I just don’t know if it would be weird to name a daughter that. I get along great with my stepmom, but it’s not like the baby would be named after her, if that makes sense. I just really like the name. Thoughts?

She would probably think it was used in honor of her. I think the real question would be, how would your mom feel about it?

My mother died 10 years ago. If this baby is a girl, her middle name will be [name_f]Deborah[/name_f], specifically in honor of my mom.

BTW- I’m not totally set on this name. It’s just one that is on the list. I’m actually leaning more toward the name [name_f]Grace[/name_f], but just wanted to get opinions.

I really love the name [name_f]Clara[/name_f] to me it’s a spunky name with a feminine touch.

I guess if its more of a coincidence you can just say that you really loved the name. If your stepmother doesn’t go by this name it will only be immediate family who will assume it is a namesake, not a big deal but I can see your dilemma… [name_m]Just[/name_m] comes down to how much you love [name_f]Clara[/name_f]

ETA: do you pronounce it klah-rah or klare-uh? Out of curiosity

I think [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Deborah[/name_f] flows better than [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_f]Deborah[/name_f].

Pronounced [name_f]Klare[/name_f]-uh

Maybe [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Deborah[/name_f]? The a-ending on [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Deborah[/name_f] makes it sound too similar
