This site is just wonderful, you all have such good advice.
For the most part I love classic simple names. My boys are [name]William[/name], [name]Henry[/name] ([name]Huck[/name]), and [name]Nathaniel[/name] ([name]Nate[/name]). My girls are [name]Cecilia[/name] and [name]Jules[/name].
I really like the name Sura for a little girl but my family hates it. I wanted some one elses perspective. Does this fit with the other names? Does it sound like Syrup (my sister thinks so)? Is it to close to [name]Suri[/name]?
I also love the names [name]Veronica[/name], [name]Grace[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name]. Should I stick with one of these
Sura is definetley unique, [name]Ive[/name] never heard of it before. What made you come up with it? My first thought was of [name]Suri[/name] [name]Cruise[/name]. I dont think it goes with your childrens name (which I think are lovely btw). However, I dont think that should be a reason to not use a name love. What is it about the name Sura that you like? Maybe you can finding another name with a similar feel but a more traditional quality. What about Sarin? or [name]Cora[/name]? maybe [name]Kira[/name]?
I really like [name]Caroline[/name]. It is such a sweet name. Im getting a little tired of [name]Grace[/name], it seems like its everywhere nowadays. And I have a psychotic landlord named [name]Veronica[/name] so unfortunantly that name will forever be tainted in my mind.
Its a [name]Roman[/name] name actually. I had heard it before in Latin class but more recently on the show Spartacus. Although I think I would omit that part as I don’t want to name anybody from a tv show.
[name]Hi[/name], [name]Vera[/name] (love your name!)
First of all, you’re children have fantastic names! What are their middle names?
Syrup wasn’t the first thing I thought of, but Sura does remind me of [name]Suri[/name] [name]Cruise[/name]. I think that it’s possible for Sura to be confused with [name]Sara/name, too. [name]William[/name], [name]Henry[/name], [name]Nathaniel[/name], [name]Cecilia[/name], [name]Jules[/name], and Sura sound a bit mismatched, in my opinion. I can kind of see Sura with [name]Jules[/name], though…
Out of [name]Veronica[/name], [name]Grace[/name], and [name]Caroline[/name], I would go with [name]Veronica[/name]. [name]Caroline[/name] would probably work best with just your sons’ names, but your daughters’ names are more unusual (but not uncommon), like [name]Veronica[/name]. [name]Grace[/name] is quite common as both a middle and a first name, if that bothers you. If you use [name]Caroline[/name], maybe you could have Sura as a middle name. [name]Caroline[/name] Sura?
To be honest, Sura does not fit in with the classic names that your children have, and it does remind me of [name]Suri[/name] [name]Cruise[/name].
I really like [name]William[/name], [name]Henry[/name], [name]Nathaniel[/name], [name]Cecilia[/name], and [name]Jules[/name]! That being said, I would go with [name]Veronica[/name]…how about [name]Veronica[/name] [name]Grace[/name]? Or, you could go with [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. [name]Both[/name] are beautiful names that fit in well with your children’s names.
Woo-hoo! I love your children’s names! I second (or third?) the comments about Sura and [name]Suri[/name], as well as the thoughts about Sura being very different in style from your other children’s names. I think that loving a name is what’s most important, but if matching styles are important to you, you may want to stick with [name]Veronica[/name], [name]Grace[/name], or [name]Caroline[/name]. (Great names, by the way!)
You could also name you daughter something classic, such as [name]Susannah[/name], and nickname her Sura. You could even go with something like [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Rachel[/name], using the [name]Su[/name] from [name]Susannah[/name] and the [name]Ra[/name] from [name]Rachel[/name] to reach the “Sura” nickname.
Thanks for all the help. Are there any other names you think fit other then the three I mentioned before. I think I have given up on Sura as a first name.
While Sura has a very sweet sound to it I agree with pp it just doesn’t match your other childrens names. love [name]Jill[/name]'s suggestion of using a classic name to get the nn Sura kind of like you did with [name]Henry[/name] ([name]Huck[/name]) and I love the suggestion of [name]Susannah[/name] as well!
Sorry, I thought [name]Julia[/name] “[name]Jules[/name]” was just [name]Jules[/name]!
Since [name]Cecilia[/name] and [name]Julia[/name] both end with -lia, I think another would be great with the two! From [name]Alexa[/name]'s previous suggestions, I think [name]Amelia[/name] would be great with [name]Cecilia[/name] and [name]Julia[/name] “[name]Jules[/name]”… I also like [name]Aurelia[/name], but I think that [name]Amelia[/name] is better with the names of your other children.
Or, you could just use a name ending in -ia, so I also think that the suggested [name]Portia[/name] works. Some others include:
[name]Claudia[/name]- same first letter as [name]Cecilia[/name] (if it bothers you), but the c’s make different sounds…
[name]Georgia[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name]
[name]Sylvia[/name]- starts the same as [name]Cecilia[/name] (if it bothers you), but it’s a diferent letter, at least…
I think that [name]Caroline[/name] could work as a middle name for all of those. [name]Grace[/name] is alright, too, but it’s very similar to [name]Grey[/name]. Here are some other middle name ideas:
I am with your sister, I’m now hungry for pancakes! However, I think [name]Suri[/name] fits SO well with your other names, it’s not a popular choice, but it is pretty, understated and elegant in it’s own lovely way, just as your other names are.
I don’t like Sura too much. I don’t think it goes with either girl names. But what about [name]SELAH[/name]? It’s in the bible at the end of each PSALM. Not sure if it’s really a name, but I think it’s pretty. You say: [name]SAY[/name]-LA
[name]Just[/name] wanted to chime in and say, please don’t use [name]Amelia[/name]. It’s a wonderful name, but it rhymes with [name]Cecilia[/name]! (same with [name]Aurelia[/name])
I absolutely adore all of your children’s names, by the way!
