With siblings named [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] & [name_f]Liberty[/name_f]
Trying to find names that have the same feel to them as i had for my son and daughters names… at the moment not getting much of ‘‘the one’’ type feelings…
Is it supposed to be [name_u]Winter[/name_u] spelled [name_u]Wynter[/name_u]? If so I personally prefer the [name_u]Winter[/name_u] spelling but it does have a nice sound
You spelled [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] and [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] normally tho…so I think [name_u]Wynter[/name_u] spelled like that would stand out and not fit as well with the other two
I agree with the others. There’s no reason to misspell it. [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] didn’t get spelled Lyberty or Lybertie etc. [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] isn’t [name_u]Bayley[/name_u] or [name_f]Bailee[/name_f] etc. So why spell [name_u]Winter[/name_u] wrong? It is as bad as the other misspellings you listed because [name_u]Winter[/name_u] is a season and very common to everyone so misspelling it, in my opinion, is a little worse than taking a name people maybe haven’t heard or even one that’s usually misspelled, and misspelling it.
All that being said, I think [name_u]Winter[/name_u] goes fine with the others. [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] and [name_u]Winter[/name_u] are both equally unusual and not used all the frequently and [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] is unusual to see on a boy. So they all go together nicely.
On the name in general, I really like [name_u]Winter[/name_u]. It’s pretty.
And another note, I know a girl and boy, each with their name spelled [name_u]Wynter[/name_u], and both of them hate it. It’s because people automatically spell it [name_u]Winter[/name_u] and then get frustrated with them when they say “No it’s [name_u]Wynter[/name_u]”. They both get tired of correcting people constantly and they get tired of people giving them “But that’s not right” talks and stares. You get that more with common word names than with, say [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]/[name_f]Katherine[/name_f] etc.
[name_u]Winter[/name_u] goes well with [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] and [name_f]Liberty[/name_f]. [name_u]Wynter[/name_u] looks a bit tacky next to those two.
I think its cos the others have a y in them that i’m drawn to the y in it… I’m not saying its a definite just exploring and asking opinions… I do like it spelt ‘[name_u]Winter[/name_u]’ but as yet we don’t know if we would use it as a first name perhaps a middle… that or i might go welshie and find something in welsh like [name_f]Eira[/name_f] that symbolizes snow…this was just one of those do they dont they’s im more stuck on boys names as i cant find anything… & yes i spelled them the right way… and bailey on a boy where i live is more popular than it being for a girl… & if im honest i dont think bailey on a girl is very nice but that’s my opinion-( i’m also bias as its my sons name. )
Thank you for the donts on this… i have even changed the spelling in my sig…
I’m not a huge fan of the name [name_u]Winter[/name_u] to begin with, and I think spelling it with a Y makes it seem even sillier. I don’t mind your idea to continue the trend with another name containing Y though.
I like Winterlynn or winter lynn It would actually be doable aswell as my mums name is lynn… So would be a nice tough to it. As once was schyler lynn lol i think winterlynn is much better… lol
In ‘old English’ there were no fixed spellings. Using my ancestor’s 1590’s will as reference, they also spelt nine as ‘nyne’, almighty as ‘almightie’ and said as ‘saide’… Back then, i’s and e’s were regularly interchanged and no one batted an eyelid - but nowadays those examples would all be considered incorrect. In modern English we have dictionaries recording the correct spellings of words and can’t just make them up however we feel. In 2013, inserting random letters/changing letters in words as commonly used as winter will just make the writer look uneducated.
Sorry Otter, I edited after I realised she might have meant ‘old English.’ I think you’re still right though. It’s never ‘officially’ been spelt as wynter.
I prefer [name_u]Winter[/name_u] as well but you have a point for looking for a name with y like your other children’s names. Some suggestions.
