I suggested the name [name]Mara[/name] to DH today, and he wasn’t crazy about it. He did say that he would let me name the baby that as long as her middle name could be [name]Jade[/name]. The problem is that [name]Mara[/name] [name]Jade[/name] was [name]Luke[/name] Skywalker’s wife. It wasn’t in the movies, but it was in the literary stuff that was written after the movies, and the first thing that comes up when you google [name]Mara[/name] [name]Jade[/name] is the wikipedia article on the character. I really like the name [name]Mara[/name], but I’m not sure I’m ok with naming my daughter after a [name]Star[/name] Wars character. Would you be ok with it or should I just give up the name and move on to something else?
I think most people would never notice. I personally wouldn’t know (I’ve never seen the movies or read the books.) Perhaps some diehard fans would know but unless you are thinking of actually calling her [name]Mara[/name] [name]Jade[/name] on a daily basis nobody will know what her mn is. I think it is perfectly fine to name her [name]Mara[/name] [name]Jade[/name] and I actually think it is a really cute name! Lots of luck!

I would totally agree to it! [name]Mara[/name] is a beautiful name, and if you love it and hubby loves the [name]Mara[/name] [name]Jade[/name] combination, then it’s a win-win right? I also think that few people would know about the [name]Star[/name] Wars books connection. It fits nicely with her big brother and sister’s names as well.

Truthfully, I didn’t know the [name]Star[/name] Wars connection myself until I asked him why [name]Mara[/name] [name]Jade[/name]. I was just concerned others might know. I’m not a [name]Star[/name] Wars fan at all.
I am a hardcore [name]Star[/name] Wars movie fan but I’ve never read the books so I had no idea about [name]Mara[/name] [name]Jade[/name]. If you’re okay with [name]Jade[/name] as a middle name – SW connection or not – and he is okay with [name]Mara[/name], I say go for it! It’s a really sweet name at any rate!
I think no one will notice but if it really bothers you I really like rollo’s suggestion of [name]Marianna[/name] [name]Jade[/name].
I think this ones OK because it’s not so obvious. A lot of people won’t know about it unless they’re huge mega fans. I also don’t think it’s something she’ll be teased about because it’s a legit name that doesn’t sound made up for a character. They are both relatively common names so it could just be a coincidence (like it is) that her name is from [name]Star[/name] Wars. It won’t be anything like naming her [name]Leia[/name] or the like.

I knew about [name]Mara[/name] [name]Jade[/name] although I haven’t read the books. I’m a pretty big [name]Star[/name] Wars fan. However, most people would only recognize Anakin, [name]Obi[/name] Wan, Skywalker, and Yoda as [name]Star[/name] Wars names.
I would say no. I’m not a big [name]Star[/name] Wars fan and have never read any of the books but I’m aware of the character [name]Mara[/name] [name]Jade[/name]. [name]Even[/name] if a lot of people aren’t aware of the connection, your daughter would be and personally, I wouldn’t like the fact that I was given the same exact name as a [name]Star[/name] Wars character. Using the first name [name]Mara[/name] should be enough of a [name]Star[/name] Wars reference for your husband, use something else in the middle.
I think the [name]Star[/name] Wars connnection shouldn’t be a problem. No one will notice and even if some people will, it’s not a mean character, is it?
What would bother me is that your husband doesn’t really like [name]Mara[/name] that much. That would bother me and I’d keep looking.
In fact, a friend’s daughter is a [name]Leia[/name] and we only thought about the connection for like a millisecond. After that, we totally forgot about the connection.
So… not as bad as you might think… 
I think the combo is pretty cute and if you both like it, why not? I’m not really a [name]Star[/name] Wars fan per se, though I have seen the movies and have heard of [name]Mara[/name] [name]Jade[/name] but this is only through my brother who is a hardcore fan. I think it would be pretty rare for someone to get the connection, not many people have read the books/comics.
I don’t remember the exact details, but [name]Mara[/name] [name]Jade[/name] originally was the hand of the Emperor (evil guy) or something and when he died she tried to assasinate [name]Luke[/name] and somehow they fell in love and got married. So yeah…I don’t think the [name]Star[/name] Wars connection is that bad, just an interesting pop culture reference.
