Considering I obssesed about naming my son last [name]July[/name] I was quite surprised when I recently realized that all three of my sons (but not my daughters) have a “ph” in their middle names - [name]Stephen[/name], [name]Joseph[/name], and [name]Philip[/name]. So if we have another son should I limit the middle names we consider to those that have a “ph”. [name]Christopher[/name] and [name]Raphael[/name] are the only ones I think we’d really consider.
I am the oldest of 5, and by the time my parents got to the third or fourth (dont remember which) they realized there was a trend for 3 syllable names, and decided to continue it. As a girl in elementary school, I enjoyed trying to “help” my parents think of names with 3 syllables for my two baby sisters. If there are names that continue the tradition that you really love, go for it! Dont feel like you have to, but it is pretty cool to have something in common in all of our names.
I wouldn’t feel the need to continue the pattern at all. That being said, I absolutely love the name [name]Raphael[/name]!
Nope. If it were unintentional, I would feel no need (or desire) to continue a patter. Pattern obsession in naming is one of my pet peeves. Why cut off so many options, y’know? I mean, if you love [name]Christopher[/name] or [name]Raphael[/name] and it would be topping your list even without the unintentional pattern, then use it, but I don’t like the idea of using a name one doesn’t like just to fit a pattern you didn’t set out to have in the first place.
Because I love the names [name]Christopher[/name] and [name]Raphael[/name], I would say, go for it! However, if you wouldn’t use the names otherwise, I wouldn’t suggest it.
