I personally cringe when I read it, it just does not sound good, that said, it is a middle name and it’ll hardly be used… so you can get away with it, but that initial “what’s her name” and then you respond “[name]Eloise[/name] [name]Lisa[/name]” might cause others to cringe as well…
[name]EDIT[/name]: I focused more on the sound combo, as for both being related to [name]Elizabeth[/name], I didn’t even notice
Given your circumstance, I think [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Lisa[/name] is fine. Very few people, if anyone, will see your daughter’s full name and think “wow, those names are so similar.”
Apologies for my honesty, but I also cringe reading it…though both names are lovely and it’s wonderful that you have a middle name that means something to you.
I don’t know why everyone on Nameberry keeps saying that you hardly ever use your middle name. [name]Even[/name] if she never uses it for anything later in life, when she is first born everyone will be asking for the middle name and for many months following that as you introduce her to friends and family. Or you will put it on birth announcements that you send to everyone. Sorry for my two cents…
Yes, [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Kathleen[/name] sounds SO MUCH better. It is beautiful!! [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Kate[/name] is also beautiful and charming. I think I like it even more than [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Kathleen[/name] depending on the length of your last name.
Your mom will be honored that her name was used to create an adorable new name for her grandbaby!! DH and I are very close to my mom and would love to honor her in our baby name, but her name and middle name is totally out of fashion and not at all our style - she totally understands and would not want us to give our baby her first name! Instead we are thinking we will honor her by giving our baby a name that starts with the same first letter as hers. She knows we love her even if we don’t though!
I definitely think it’s too similar, I get trippy saying it out loud. It sounds like one name personally.
Perhaps use your mother’s middle name, birth month, birth stone, zodiac signs, favourite colour etc instead. Get creative!
[name]Edit[/name]: I just saw you post your mom’s middle name is [name]Kathleen[/name], [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Kathleen[/name] is nice! I think [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Kate[/name] is gorgeous, and definitely honorary enough.
I think [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Kathleen[/name] would be a lovely way to honor your mother, especially since [name]Eloise[/name] and [name]Lisa[/name] have similar letters, and the middle names would be the same. My mom’s name is [name]Kathleen[/name] and my 2nd daughter is named [name]Heidi[/name] [name]Kathleen[/name].
