i love it… i am not sure how usuable it really is… but it definitely is lightyears better than alot of the madeup trendy messes I am seeing on my birthboard! i honestly wouldn’t blink an eye if i heard a sweet little girl being called [name]Primrose[/name]… but its one of those names that just isn’t used alot. so it takes somebody to help get the ball going;) That could be you! LOL
I don’t know if it’s that I couldn’t take a [name]Primrose[/name] seriously, it’s that “Prim” syllable that locks it down to a very specific personality for me. I wouldn’t blink an eye if I saw a [name]Primrose[/name] in a nursery rhyme or on a doll, but a [name]Primrose[/name] who was a marine or drove race cars or was far from girly and primrose-y…it doesn’t have the flexibility for me that most names have. [name]Hope[/name] that made sense.
I have met a couple of Primroses in South [name]Africa[/name]. I thought their name sounded pretty when I heard them say it and it didn’t seem silly at all.
I think this puts into thought what I’ve been thinking. I think it’s part that it’s such an unusual/uncommon nature name, and part that it’s just so fanciful and girly that I can’t really picture it on a race-car driver. Then again, I can’t really picture [name]Violet[/name] or [name]Eleanor[/name] on a race car driver, either, and I would still use those.
Oh pish posh… it’s fine. [name]Just[/name] as usable as [name]Violet[/name], [name]Magnolia[/name], and [name]Rosalie[/name]… and INFINITELY more usable than the associated [name]Katniss[/name].
I think it’s totally usable. Yes, it could potentially sound stuck-up so I suppose it would be especially important not to raise a stuck-up child but I’m guessing that was your plan anyway. Lots of girly name are very feminine and wouldn’t sound “right” on a marine as one person mentioned - but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t use them! A marine named [name]Lily[/name]? Or [name]Juliet[/name]? Of course it doesn’t sound “right” but I’m sure if your daughter became a race car driver she would would make it work!! I love it. Though I agree, it also sounds lovely in the middle name spot.
I think [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Primrose[/name] would be better. The association of that name with the book character is still too strong for me to consider it usable – luckily, however, [name]Primrose[/name] was a likable character so you do have that aspect in your favor if you did decide to use it as a first name. Regardless, I think it would be better in the middle name position. Then, she can have the unique middle name with something classy and timeless like [name]Eleanor[/name] as her first without people asking whenever they meet your daughter: “Oh, like the Hunger Games?”
I do think [name]Primrose[/name] is usable as a first name and I would take her seriously. I do not like the nn [name]Posy[/name], though. Never been a fan.
I think [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Primrose[/name] works really well too.
Thanks, ladies! I’m loving all this love for [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Primrose[/name]. [name]Just[/name] curious, how does it compare to [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Lila[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Posy[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Serena[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name]? Those are the other combos I’m considering at the moment, but I love how – untraditional, I guess you’d say? – [name]Primrose[/name] is with the classic [name]Eleanor[/name]. I don’t really feel like [name]Lila[/name], [name]Posy[/name], [name]Serena[/name], or [name]Cecilia[/name] has that quirky, fun, lively, unpredictable quality that [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Primrose[/name] has.
I love the name [name]Lila[/name], but for me, the combo [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Primrose[/name] beats all those other combos by far. Very unexpected and still sort of classic. [name]Love[/name] it!
First, I think [name]Primrose[/name] is darling- as a middle name. [name]Even[/name] though I’ve never met someone with the name, it’s difficult to imagine meeting a CEO named [name]Primrose[/name] and taking her seriously. But there’s more to a person then just her name.
Second, [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Primrose[/name] is wonderful! I like it alot! I think it’s a great combination, second only to [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name].
[name]Hope[/name] that helps!
I would like it if she was called [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Rosie[/name] or if it was a middle name. If always called [name]Primrose[/name], then I don’t think i am ready for it yet.
I like it in theory- but it is a bit of a bold statement as a name. Very frilly and proper. [name]Posey[/name] is just gorgeous on a child- perhaps with the MN [name]Primrose[/name] you could still use [name]Posey[/name] as her nick name.
[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Primrose[/name] is great! I like it much better than all your other combos. I do not like the sound of [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Lila[/name] or [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Serena[/name]. [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Posy[/name] is cute but lacks the substance of [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Primrose[/name] and is not nearly as beautiful. [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name] would be my second choice but it does not have the quirky quality the [name]Primrose[/name] offers.
Thank you… yeah, I agree, it’d take a very special sort of little girl (much less woman!) to pull it off. I’m not a fan of a child going by their MN, really, but that does give me an idea I rather like… I’m still trying to decide on [name]Jocelyn[/name]… maybe I could do [name]Jocelyn[/name] [name]Primrose[/name] [name]Kate[/name] or something, nn [name]Posy[/name]. Combine parts of [name]Jocelyn[/name], and parts of [name]Primrose[/name], and you get [name]Posy[/name]. Thoughts? I’m not sure I like [name]Jocelyn[/name] [name]Primrose[/name] more than [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Primrose[/name], but I find I do really like both.
