Even if you don’t like the name, if you had to use it, would you use Ellie as a nickname for a longer El name or on its own?

As a nickname, mostly because I like a lot of the long forms

I actually feel like it stands out more on its own! I know so many girls with long El- names that go by Ellie, but only one just-Ellie, which makes it feel fresher and more distinct.
For me personally I’d use it as a nickname (and actually plan to) simply because Elowin is at the top of my list for a girl. So I’d use that and then use [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], etc as a nickname. But for others, I do love [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], and [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] as standalone names as well if that’s the version you love best.
I’d use it as a nickname. I do like the Elly spelling as a full name though!
irl, I’d use a full name because I actually can’t use [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] as it’s my sister’s nickname 
buuutttttt I know that’s not helpful so in a world where I didn’t have a sister with the name, I prefer it as a full name
I think it can stand alone but I love so many [name_f]El[/name_f]- names that I might be tempted to double up.
