Would you use Indy for a boy?

[name_f]My[/name_f] husband has fallen in love wit the name [name_u]Indy[/name_u] for a boy. I don’t dislike it, but I’m worried that it’ll get a very negative reaction if we use it
I’m sure I’ve seen it listed as a boy name somewhere though!

Is he an [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] and/or Nascar fan?

I think it’s cute on a boy! I mean, [name_u]Andy[/name_u] is a boy’s name why not [name_u]Indy[/name_u]? I don’t think the reaction will be too negative, but people might ask you why you chose it.

I like the spelling [name_u]Indy[/name_u] for a boy.

I would spell it like [name_u]Indie[/name_u], given how [name_u]Indy[/name_u] seems unnecessary unless of course I’m not pronouncing it right! I know [name_u]Indie[/name_u] was popular awhile back and still is so I could see it on a little boy! I actually adore it on a boy rather than a girl!

I don’t see why not! If I was using it myself I’d probably use the full name [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] or [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] with the nickname [name_u]Indy[/name_u]

Very much an [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] fan :see_no_evil:

Personally I don’t like [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] very much but I could go for indigo or similar

I think the name [name_m]Indio[/name_m] is awesome so I’d personally use that and call him [name_u]Indy[/name_u] for short. Or you could do [name_u]Indigo[/name_u]? [name_u]Indy[/name_u] is cute but a little too nickname-y for my liking.

If you decide that a [name_u]Indy[/name_u] is better as nickname, one way to get to it is have his first and middle initials be N.D. that might open up more options.

OMG or name him [name_m]Henry[/name_m] just like [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] [name_f]Jone[/name_f]’s real name. That would be amazing… I also love that character… After all, it was the dog that was named [name_u]Indiana[/name_u]. RIP [name_u]Sean[/name_u] [name_u]Connery[/name_u]

Hadnt thought of [name_m]Indio[/name_m]!!

Hmm maybe if you try other names with a strong “IN” sound (not necessarily in the beginning) Ex: [name_m]Finneas[/name_m], [name_m]Findlay[/name_m], [name_u]Collins[/name_u] etc.
Or maybe [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] or [name_m]Ford[/name_m] for an [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] tribute
Best of luck!

I love [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] which is currently our compromise name. [name_m]Just[/name_m] trying to get feelers really as he loves this name so much
Thank you!

I think [name_u]Indy[/name_u] is pretty cool, actually! It feels like it can stand on its own just as well as common names like [name_u]Brady[/name_u] or [name_u]Cody[/name_u]. I say go for it!

I will be honest. The name makes my teeth grind. I feel that way about [name_u]Ryder[/name_u] too. And [name_u]Indigo[/name_u].

The names (not the people with the names) annoy me. But I don’t know that any others feel this way.

I like [name_u]Indy[/name_u] for a boy! I’ve actually known more guys named [name_u]Indy[/name_u] than girls (2 guys 1 girl, all in their 20s now) so it’s pretty unisex to me, though I really prefer it on boys. I know an [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] nn [name_u]Indy[/name_u], and I think any I name with an N or D could work as well even if they’re less intuitive: [name_m]Inigo[/name_m], [name_m]Isidore[/name_m], [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m]

I think it would totally work on a boy. It’s very sweet and versatile.

I think it works well on a boy! I don’t know of any long forms that I like for it, but [name_u]Indy[/name_u] is a cool nickname.

Indy works great on a boy!

I went to a high school with a boy named [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] but he went by [name_u]Indy[/name_u] the whole time. I always liked his name and I’ve never met a girl named [name_u]Indy[/name_u]. That paired with [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] makes this name very masculine to me.
