For some reason, my dear husband and I both enjoy these names, typical for a boy…as a girl’s name. Would you use it? Would people think it is too masculine? Opinions? Thoughts? suggestions?
[name]Baby[/name] number 4 coming…thinking of boy/girl/unisex names!
Give us your thoughts!
Edit:
We like Nehemiah, nickname Miah, like Mya or My. Someone also suggested Nia, kind of like that too.
I know someone who named their girl [name]Elisha[/name]. I prefer [name]Elisha[/name] to [name]Elijah[/name] which seems too much like a boys name. [name]Nehemiah[/name]…I would choose that over [name]Elijah[/name]. It actually is a very sweet name and underused even for boys.
Absolutely not. Neither name is “unisex.” They are BOY names. If you use one for a girl, you will just be giving her a boy’s name. There are so many amazing girl’s names out there, biblical and non-biblical. WHY choose a male name for your beautiful baby girl?
I’m sorry if that sounds harsh. I don’t mean to be rude at all, and I’m sorry if it came out that way. But using an obviously male name on a girl is a bit of a pet peeve.
I wouldn’t use the names. But then again I am into girly/romantic names. People do do it though. So it would not be a complete shock. For example people use the name [name]Elliot[/name], [name]Rowan[/name], [name]Maxwell[/name], [name]Emerson[/name] etc. If you love it then go with what you love. I would pair the name with a girly middle to make it sound more feminine. And if I had to pick I would go with [name]Nehemiah[/name]. Only because I know a little boy named [name]Elijah[/name] so that is what comes to mind. And [name]Nehemiah[/name] has a feminine flair to it in a weird way.
My neighbor just named her daughter [name]Elijah[/name]. I asked 3 times b/c I honestly thought I’d heard wrong. I just felt so surprised - their other 2 kids have traditional gender names like [name]Joseph[/name] and [name]Abigail[/name].
