Would you use the name Noah?

So I think we’ve whittled down our top names to either [name_u]Noah[/name_u] or [name_u]Easton[/name_u]. I love both the names but both have their pros and cons…

[name_u]Noah[/name_u] - Super popular in the UK & the US, I think it’s even in the top 5 name lists for both countries. It makes me reluctant to use it as it’s been so popular for years & shows no signs of dropping in the charts.

[name_u]Easton[/name_u] - Not common in the UK at all but it seems to be a love or hate it kind of name? I get a lot of mixed reactions when I run it by people/read up on forums about it. It’s hard not to let the negative feedback affect our decision…

I would use [name_u]Easton[/name_u] - which I do like but am slightly hesitant for some reason - or another name like it, [name_m]Westin[/name_m], [name_m]Ethan[/name_m], [name_m]Cormac[/name_m], [name_u]Baylor[/name_u], [name_m]Nolan[/name_m],* [name_u]Everett[/name_u], [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] or [name_m]Landon[/name_m]. For me, [name_u]Noah[/name_u] isn’t just popular, it is not hefty enough. I like softer names like [name_m]Jasper[/name_m], [name_m]Silas[/name_m], [name_m]Declan[/name_m] and [name_m]Marcel[/name_m], but I find [name_u]Noah[/name_u] is in the mouth / easy to swallow up. It does go with the other names though as a nice balance. I wouldn’t worry too much about people’s reactions (if they’re just a matter of taste more than a legit reason) since they’ll change anyway once they meet your son with the name. I think [name_u]Easton[/name_u] is the name unless one really knocks it off perch!

*[name_m]Nolan[/name_m] is a mix of both!

They both have their pros and cons.
I’m not a fan of [name_u]Noah[/name_u]. Like you said, it’s crazy popular at the moment and I personally dislike the obvious religious connection.
[name_u]Easton[/name_u] is not my style as I’m not into trendy names. However, I think I think it works really well with your other sons’ names and I like that it’s a bit more unique. The important thing is that you like the name. Have you thought about other -on names like [name_m]Harrison[/name_m], [name_u]Lennon[/name_u], [name_u]Orion[/name_u], [name_m]Leon[/name_m], [name_m]Solomon[/name_m], [name_m]Deacon[/name_m]? Good luck!

I vastly prefer [name_u]Noah[/name_u], I think it just sounds a lot nicer.

[name_u]Easton[/name_u] is ok, but I think [name_u]Noah[/name_u] is a nicer name and I think the name [name_u]Easton[/name_u] in the UK does have a love/hate reaction. [name_u]Easton[/name_u] feels very American in style, whereas [name_u]Noah[/name_u] is more universal.

I’m a [name_u]Noah[/name_u] fan and [name_u]Easton[/name_u] makes me think of a [name_u]Bristol[/name_u] suburb, sorry! I think [name_u]Noah[/name_u] is great as part of the sib set too!

E x

I’d go with [name_u]Noah[/name_u], despite it’s popularity. I don’t really mind how popular a name is, and I think if you love it, you should use it.
I don’t mind [name_u]Easton[/name_u], but I can’t say I like it either. I suppose most people would have a love or hate reaction, and if that bothers you I’d avoid a name like [name_u]Easton[/name_u].

[name_u]Noah[/name_u], definitely. You may regret not using it, despite its popularity.

Thank you for your great suggestions! All of those are names I would favourite - I know a couple of [name_m]Ethan[/name_m]'s already but if I didn’t that would have been a strong contender too. I’ve decided against [name_u]Noah[/name_u] now and now dithering between [name_u]Easton[/name_u] & [name_m]Leon[/name_m]? Which is also a bit different but perhaps not quite as ‘trendy’ sounding… So tricky third time round.

Haha I think [name_u]Easton[/name_u] does seem to be a popular town name, which I don’t mind. [name_u]Easton[/name_u] is also a big sports brand in the states apparently.

We’re also considering [name_m]Leon[/name_m] now, which I think has a similar ring to it but perhaps not as ‘trendy’ sounding which I was worried about

That’s true about not letting popularity be a deal breaker. My husband isn’t as keen on [name_u]Noah[/name_u] so it does have another drawback. Although I love how it sounds with my son’s names still <3

We’re thinking about Leon now? Which we both seem to like (which is a miracle!!!)

Thank you! I really like [name_u]Lennon[/name_u]. I might see what my husband thinks… although it would be hard to escape the Beatles association (a good one to have though). I think [name_m]Leon[/name_m] might have the edge, as it’s a bit like [name_u]Easton[/name_u] but without the whole ‘trying-to-be-trendy’ vibe x

I strongly dislike [name_u]Noah[/name_u], and I don’t think it sounds good with your other boys’ names at all. They are sleek and modern whereas [name_u]Noah[/name_u] is Old Testament and feels religious to me. [name_u]Easton[/name_u] is okay and works much better, but definitely comes across as American to me as it’s very popular there (in top 100) but not so popular elsewhere. I think [name_m]Leon[/name_m] or [name_m]Leo[/name_m] are much nicer choices and go well with the siblings. [name_u]Lennon[/name_u] is also okay, but will always be the Beatle for me so a bit offputting.

[name_u]Lennox[/name_u]
[name_m]Griffin[/name_m]
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m]

Thanks! That’s a good point about [name_u]Noah[/name_u] being very religious and not as modern as my son’s names. I just liked how it sounded alongside them but after more thought/feedback I agree it’s not the right name to complete the sibset.

We’re leaning towards [name_m]Leon[/name_m] now, although I do love your suggestion of [name_u]Lennox[/name_u]. I’ll maybe look into that one a bit more! x

Any middle name suggestions for [name_m]Leon[/name_m]? Preferably one syllable (my son’s middle names are [name_u]James[/name_u] & [name_u]Reid[/name_u]).

Currently wondering about [name_m]Leon[/name_m] ‘Hay’ (my Dad’s middle name). I think it sounds quite nice but I also like [name_m]Leon[/name_m] [name_u]Beau[/name_u] or [name_m]Leon[/name_m] [name_u]Quin[/name_u] (but it also ends in n which I’m not sure works as well.)

I quite like [name_u]Noah[/name_u]. Not a fan of [name_u]Easton[/name_u], but it’s okay.

I like [name_u]Noah[/name_u] and I think it goes well with your other children’s names.

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_u]Noah[/name_u] (though my signature doesn’t currently show it!) and love it with [name_m]Fin[/name_m] and [name_u]Parker[/name_u]. I would love to use [name_u]Noah[/name_u] myself one day :).
