On the social security website it was ranked 356 in 2010… 511 in 2009… That was a pretty big jump. I am starting to wonder if [name]Aria[/name] isn’t already in the top 100. I just did a google search on the name and there are TONS of tiny little babys and girls under 5 that pop up on blogs and other sites. TONS! I know a lot of people here have [name]Aria[/name] on thier list as well.
[name]Do[/name] you know have you ever met an [name]Aria[/name]?
Great question! Since [name]Aria[/name] is on our list, I too, am currious just how popular it really is. Personally I have never met, or heard of anyone with this name, and I know a lot of kids/babies.
I love the name but I am leaning towards finding a longer name and using [name]Aria[/name] as a nn because it feels incomplete to me. I would love to meet a little [name]Aria[/name] but I have not. It does not seem that popular. I don’t think anything really outside of the Top 100 can be considered that popular.
I don’t know anyone with this name, but it’s now the name of a character on the tv show Pretty [name]Little[/name] Liars so it might get even more exposure.
I would guess that it will jump more, but I think it’ll probably start to slow down. The closer to the top it gets, the more slowly it moves upwards. [name]Isabella[/name] jumped about 200 places for the first few years it reappeared on the SSA list, and then it slowly tapered off to 100 spots a year, and then more like 50… by around 2007 it was only moving one place at a time or so. When [name]Isla[/name] appeared on the SSA list, it jumped nearly 400 spots to land at number 623, and the next year, it only jumped to the 346 position. Last year, it moved less than 50 spots. When people first hear a name that is fairly novel, I think it gets a huge surge, but then it becomes familiar and it just continues to be steadily used. That’s my opinion, anyway, haha.
[name]Aria[/name], over the past ten years or so, [name]Aria[/name] has steadily climbed to where it is… I think it seems like a novel, sweet, modern take on [name]Ariana[/name]/[name]Arianna[/name] and its musical quality is appealing to a lot of people. I think it’ll take a while for it to get a lot more popular but I highly doubt it’s on the top 100 for 2011. I guess we’ll see in [name]May[/name], though! I haven’t really “met” an [name]Aria[/name], but I was at a state-wide church get-together and I was walking down a sidewalk when I heard a mom introducing her baby girl to someone–she said her name was [name]Aria[/name]. That’s the only one I’ve come across in real life.
Personally, it’s a bit too incomplete for me, and I much prefer [name]Ariana[/name] and [name]Arianne[/name] (not to mention [name]Arabella[/name] and [name]Arielle[/name]!) to just [name]Aria[/name]. Besides, I hate the infernal Pretty [name]Little[/name] Liars association, haha. I think a lot of people like it but I think it’s popularity will pretty much even out for a while. It’s just not everyone’s thing, and I really doubt it’ll ever be as popular as [name]Isabella[/name], [name]Sophia[/name], [name]Lily[/name], or [name]Avery[/name] are.
I’ve heard a lot of people consider [name]Aria[/name] since Pretty [name]Little[/name] Liars came around. I’d never even heard the name before I read the books in highschool. I’ve met 2 [name]Aria[/name]'s in my line of work (I work at a pre-school, so I meet tons of children) and I know of one [name]Aria[/name] [name]Brielle[/name], a future sister to a student. I don’t think it will become too popular, but I think the amount of [name]Ari[/name]'s will probably be high as names beginning with [name]Ari[/name] seem to be a recent trend.
I’ve never seen Pretty [name]Little[/name] Liars. I just went and looked up a promo for it, and it looks… interesting. lol xD The girl looks nothing like how I would imagine an [name]Aria[/name].
I assumed [name]Aria[/name] was gaining popularity because of Game of Thrones…
I don’t really care for [name]Aria[/name] in PLL, but I do [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Arya[/name] Stark from The Song of Ice and [name]Fire[/name] series, and since Game of Thrones is already such a big success as an HBO series, I’m guessing the name might gain some appeal from that. She’s really one of the best characters in the series to begin with, and she’s even better on screen. The actress who plays her has a cute name, too: [name]Maisie[/name].
Never met or heard of one until I read the Pretty [name]Little[/name] Liars series. I thought the name was said “[name]Ah[/name]-[name]Rye[/name]-Uh” lol.
I like it a lot, but it feel terribly incomplete. I adore the meaning “[name]Melody[/name]”. Plus it’s Italian, Starts/Ends with A, has an I, is three syllables…it fits all of my criteria for an ideal girls name. But lacks depth imo.
I’ve never met an [name]Aria[/name] in real life. I think it’s been getting a lot of attention on naming boards recently, but it’s not really something that seems big with the general population. Sort of like [name]Clementine[/name].
