Writing a book in the future & need help on names

Hello everyone!
I’m planning to write a book (eventually), and could use some help on character names. So far I have three characters planned.

Setting: modern times (not a specific year)
A college somewhere in the US, haven’t decided

1: has bushy, slightly wavy, long red hair, blue-gray eyes, and lots of freckles. She’s quite short (but brags about being broad in the shoulders to make up for it) and strong and loves sports, especially baseball. She’s quick tempered, but tries very hard to be patient and tolerant. She likes action movies and [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Wayne[/name_m], and oldies and Irish music. She has a wacky sense of humor and can be a little inconsiderate. She’s very definite in her views and very patriotic.
Age: early 20s
Names I’ve thought of for her: none! It should be [name_m]French[/name_m] or Irish, or something traditional/old-fashioned. Not very feminine–nothing ending in -[name_f]Belle[/name_f] ([name_f]Annabelle[/name_f], etc.)

2: is taller than 1, but not by much, though she claims to be taller. She has thick, curly, long brown hair with red-gold-chestnut in it, blue eyes, and has a rosy-complexion. She’s patient, but when she’s angry, she has a scary voice. She likes oldies, and Irish music like 1, but also [name_m]Frank[/name_m] Sinatra and Motown. She likes [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] and authors/movie adaptions like that (Elizabeth Gaskell, Charles Dickens, etc.) She tends to be more emotional than 1, but also has a wacky sense of humor. She’s also very stubborn.
Age: early 20s
Names I’ve thought of for her: Sabrina or Sabina, Lizzy/Lizzie (short for Elizabeth),. Should be more feminine than 1, but preferably French, Irish, or English–nothing modern.

3: is taller than both 1 and 2, has fairly straight medium-brown hair, brighter blue eyes, and is paler. She’s fairly shy and reserved and doesn’t like big groups, but she enjoys being with small groups of people. She can be a little over-sensitive and belligerent, but she tries to see the other side of the argument. She doesn’t like to talk about what she feels. She has a great sense of humor. Her taste in movies is like 2’s, but also likes action movies. She loves music but doesn’t play an instrument. She writes short stories and poems.
Age: early 20’s
Names I’ve thought of for her: Ealish, Eilis. Same guidelines for the other two.

I’ll post more later if necessary–I hope this is more helpful? Please let me know if I need to say more; I haven’t been a member long so I’m not very used to how you guys do this.

1: [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] (or maybe [name_f]Elinor[/name_f], I think that’s the more Celtic spelling)! I thought of it the moment I started reading about her, and (I think) it fits your criterion. It’s traditional, but I don’t find it especially feminine. Most traditional names tend to me more feminine, anyway.
2: Something Greek, maybe? [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] and [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] both came to mind.

Can we have more information like this please? Especially for the second character. That was the only useful part of the post. Also, what is the setting? The date? It doesn’t matter a jot what they look and act like. For example, it’s no good if we’re suggesting ‘modern’ names and the book is set on another planet.

Character 1:

[name_f]Mary[/name_f]
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]
[name_f]Roisin[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_f]Moira[/name_f]
[name_f]Brigita[/name_f]
[name_f]Agnes[/name_f]

I’m sorry about that–I’m editing it right now.

These girls aren’t sisters right? Why should all their names be [name_m]French[/name_m] or Irish? If they’ve just met randomly at college its unlikely they’ll sound like a sibset.

I think what I mean is, it seems more natural to have, say:

[name_u]Emerson[/name_u], [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] and Jyoti.

…than…

[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Helene[/name_f] and Margeurite.

No, they’re not sisters, but their families are very much alike. They don’t need to sound alike, those are just general guidelines–for instance, I wouldn’t use three recognizably Irish names. I’ll be mixing and matching.
