Just a little reminder for the lost Berries, Irrelevant answers only is Here and the other Wrong answers only! that isn’t about baby names is here.

Anne- names don’t exist, they’re a myth! I do appreciate your originality in this idea of naming and am very curious how you came up with Anne. I suggest you definitely name your daughter Anne- because of how special it is. No not Anne, Anne-. Hope I helped!

Is it wrong to name your baby a name that’s clearly from another country that you’re not part of? Or have any ancestry from? I’m not Emirati but I want to name my baby United Arab Emirates. Is that a problem?

Definitely not! I plan on naming my first child The United States of [name_u]America[/name_u] and my second child The United [name_m]Kingdom[/name_m] of Great [name_u]Britain[/name_u] and Northern [name_u]Ireland[/name_u]. Plus it’s unisex. That’s a win.

People tell me all the time that USA & UK as nicknames for my future children The United States of [name_u]America[/name_u] and The United [name_m]Kingdom[/name_m] of Great [name_u]Britain[/name_u] and Northern [name_u]Ireland[/name_u] are too unoriginal. What should I do!? Suggest to me some other nicknames?

Yeah that’s way too unoriginal. I suggest the nicknames :us: and :uk:. But if that’s still not original enough for your taste, try :us::us::us::us::us::us::us::us::us::us::us::us::us::us::us::us: and :uk::uk::uk::uk::uk::uk::uk::uk::uk::uk::uk::uk::uk::uk:. There, much better, that’ll show the nay-sayers who think you’re not original.

I want to name my next child Australia with the nickname [name_f]Austria[/name_f]. However people are saying that it’s not a valid nickname since they’re two different countries in two different continents. Is a baby named :australia: with the nickname :austria: more suitable?

Absolutely, I think it’s so unique and original, and definitely won’t cause any issues at all. You could also maybe use the nickname :1st_place_medal:? The chemical element symbol for gold is Au, like Australia, :australia:, [name_f]Austria[/name_f], and :austria:! It would be so obvious and people wouldn’t get confused at all.

I love the idea of twins called [name_u]Leo[/name_u] and [name_f]Leonor[/name_f] but people say these are too different and don’t sound like they could be related. Are twins called [name_m]Leonard[/name_m] and [name_f]Leonine[/name_f] better?

@Gingilocks101 I love the periodic table and I am a huge nerd for the periodic table so this is the best answer I’ve ever heard. Thank you, have this as a reward. :1st_place_medal: :medal_sports:

[name_f]My[/name_f] twins are named [name_u]Leo[/name_u] and [name_f]Lea[/name_f]. I’d say go with that but then you’d be name-stealing. I say name the girl [name_m]Leonard[/name_m] and the boy [name_f]Leonine[/name_f] so they could feel better about their places in the twin relation. You can use the nicknames [name_u]Leo[/name_u] and [name_f]Lea[/name_f] but only as nicknames, not given names. To differentiate them from mine further, try Leaaaaaa and Leoooooo.

I Am NErDy. I LuV NErDs. IS Ytterbium CuTe ON BaBiEs? I ThInK I CaN USe ThAt. YEs!? No?!

Oh my goodness, I can’t believe this has finally happened. Ytterbium… was my grandmother’s name. I’m just tearing up thinking about it. It’s such a beautiful name. Your child will love it–and I will love you for it.

As a proud American, it is so important to me to raise my children to be patriotic. In fact, I need them (and the world) to know what our family stands for from the second they’re born–no, conceived! I’m planning on having two kids (hopefully one boy and one girl so their mommy and daddy can both get what they want), so which sibling set should I go with? [name_u]Bravery[/name_u] and [name_u]Freedom[/name_u], [name_u]Loyal[/name_u] and [name_u]True[/name_u], [name_m]Washington[/name_m] and [name_m]Roosevelt[/name_m], United and States, Murica and [name_u]Eagle[/name_u], or Seventeen and Seventysix?

(Gosh, that was painful to write. I am a very different brand of American.)

None of them work. Naming children is super anti-freedom anyway, real Americans name themselves up by their own bootstraps.

What is a name you like but nobody else does?

Anarchy. It just sounds so regal and professional. But I guess I can’t control how people feel about it; they’re free to dislike it. Same thing with [name_m]Arson[/name_m]. I love that name with a burning passion, but everybody keeps extinguishing my hopes. And don’t even get me started on Mutiny…

I want to name my daughter [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], but I’m not sure which nickname to use. [name_m]Can[/name_m] you help me?

No, sorry, can’t think of any ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How can I make the name [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] feel less middle-aged?

The best way to make a name sound like it’s for a child is to ask a child how to spell it! Some examples: [name_f]Jessaca[/name_f], Jesuka, [name_f]Jesika[/name_f], Jesikuh, Jessiqah, Gessycka, etc.

[name_f]My[/name_f] partner and I love cooking and baking and snacking. Food is our passion! We want our child’s name to reflect this. [name_m]Can[/name_m] you give us some ideas?

[name_f]My[/name_f] children never like eating their peas so make your child Pea so they can grow up loving peas because it’s their identity. Definitely not tease-worthy at all and will grow up on them nicely! You can even name them Pea Pea to double the greatness!

I keep forgetting to take out the trash. Should I name my next kid Trash so I can remember to do that? When they get a relationship (they definitely will), their S.O. will be taking out the Trash! I can inspire so many people to never forget to take out the trash! And my kid will never forget to do it either! Any thoughts!?

Oh my gosh, that is BRILLIANT! I wish my parents had thought of that so I could remember to take out the trash, too. Plus, there’s the inspiring saying, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” So precious. I highly suggest [name_m]Can[/name_m] as a middle name. It’s got a positive, motivating meaning (you can do it!) and it just flows really well: Trash [name_m]Can[/name_m]. If your partner doesn’t like it for whatever reason, maybe you can sway them into a fancy alternative: Garbage (pronounced gar-BAHJ).

I am stumped. And when I say stumped, I MEAN stumped! I really want to name my child after a tree. The problem is, I live in a town full of Aspens, Willows, and even a [name_u]Pine[/name_u]! Is it weird if I go with the scientific name of a tree instead of the popular name?

No, of course not! Going with the scientific name of a tree is a great and creative way to tie nature into your kid’s name, and to be more unique (and beautiful) than everyone else going with the boring common names! Some of my favorites include Quercus (oak), Abies (fir), and (my favorite!!) Pinus (pine)

I am IN LOVE with the name [name_f]Annora[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Norah[/name_f], but people around me keep telling me that it clashes. Is the flow too interrupted, or is it a beautiful name like I think it is (and the perfect choice for my daughter?)

It is a beautiful name with a perfect flow & I’m sad I didn’t think of it myself.

[name_f]My[/name_f] partner & I just love old westerns. We love them so much in fact that we want to name our son Western. [name_f]My[/name_f] mother is nosy & commented that wouldn’t it be better if we just named him [name_u]Ezra[/name_u], [name_m]Nathan[/name_m], or even JD (all names from our favorite western) but we want Western. Is my mother right or should she butt out because it’s a beautiful name that we love & she already named her children?

In a world full of Wests, Westleys, and Westons, your son Western will fill right in! And if your mother can’t get on board with that, well… you know the best way to settle an argument. Have fun at high noon!

[name_f]Do[/name_f] I have to give my child a name? Why can’t I just call them Kid #1, Kid #2, or “hey you” or something simple? It seems like an awful lot of work when so many parents fight about it and they end up going by a nickname or middle name anyway.

No, I don’t think so. I actually think it is a really good idea  it’s giving code name kids next door, very chic!

I am a big fan of occupational names. I think some of them give a nice rugged vibe. I’ve been playing around with Trucker, Broadcaster, [name_m]Miner[/name_m], & Mascot, but everyone around me says these are terrible names and my kids would resent me for it later. What do you think? Are these names a hit or a miss?

Those are cute names, I don’t know what these other people were thinking. The rugged charm is so amazing and good enough for “Rugged” as the middle name. First name should be something tough that your critics wouldn’t want to mess with like Karateinstructor, Boxer, or Liontamer. [name_u]Or[/name_u] if you’re really into the rugged aspect: name your kid Rugdealer!

[name_f]Every[/name_f] time I have a name I like, I realise there’s always a really unfortunate deadly connotation! I love the name [name_u]James[/name_u] but I remembered my neighbor named [name_u]James[/name_u] passed away 20 years ago when he was only 100. I also admired the name [name_u]Michele[/name_u] but that was ruined when I learned someone named [name_u]Michele[/name_u] died in a dump truck accident. She didn’t crash her car into a dump truck or get run over by one, a dump truck dumped loads of trash on her until she died and now I only think of garbage and unfortunate things when I hear the name [name_u]Michele[/name_u]. I wanted to name my child something unique like [name_f]Raelee[/name_f] because there probably isn’t some scary deadly connotation - oh wait yes there is: [name_f]Raelee[/name_f] died by getting hit by two meteorites and struck by lightning 11 times after just winning the lottery. Finally I decided on naming my child, if it’s a boy, the name [name_u]William[/name_u] since it’s simple yet timeless. However after looking up my ancestry I learned there’s a dead [name_u]William[/name_u] who died 700 years ago from the bubonic plague so it’s not a usable name for me either and I think my kid will die from the bubonic plague too if I name him [name_u]William[/name_u] so I’m not risking it. I’ve narrowed my name choices and I came up with 6 names I like: Revolver, Rope, Wrench, [name_m]Dagger[/name_m], Candlestick, and Lead Pipe. Nobody with those “names” have ever died so they’re not associated with death at all and maybe the kid can grow up to be a Professor or [name_m]Colonel[/name_m]. What do you say?

[name_m]Dagger[/name_m] is the perfect cute modern name for 2024. Names like this express freedom and comfort.

Is it alright to name my son [name_m]Kai[/name_m], when my ex is also named [name_m]Kai[/name_m]?

Oh my god YES. This is so cute, now it means you truly get back together! A lovely and romantic idea – I’m sure he’ll be racing to come for you! [name_m]Or[/name_m] if you don’t want to get back together, outshine your evil ex because your son is so much cooler than that BUM! Be strong and independent. Oh and don’t put your own last name on [name_m]Kai[/name_m], put your ex’s, even if he isn’t Kai’s father!

I named my son [name_m]Dieter[/name_m], but I hate when people think it’s pronounced DEE-ter. No! It’s pronounced DYE-et-er! I named him that because it makes him seem like a deity so I don’t understand why people don’t feel it!

[name_m]Dieter[/name_m] is soooooo cute!! Idk what everyone else is thinking - I’ve only ever heard it said as dye-etter. Maybe you need to change the spelling to really highlight the connection? Deiter (for deity) or just maybe just Dyetter. And you should deffo use a deity middle for emphasis - [name_m]Dieter[/name_m] [name_m]Zeus[/name_m] maybe?? Altho people can often mispronounce [name_m]Zeus[/name_m] so you might have to adapt the spelling of that too - Dyetter Zoos!!

I’m looking for more place names for my new baby (gender unknown) to go with older sister Cincinnati “CC”. I’ve been on other forums who keep suggesting such unusual choices like [name_m]Paris[/name_m], [name_m]Chester[/name_m], [name_f]India[/name_f] and [name_f]London[/name_f] - I just don’t think they work on people? I want something that sounds namey. Is Farnborough (b) just too popular these days? Advice needed asap!!!
