I saw this name in a book and I am sort of fascinated by it. What do you think? [name]How[/name] would you pronounce it? Have you ever met/heard of anyone with this name?
It’s pronounced [name]ZAN[/name]-thee as are most Greek names with and E at the end (ex [name]Ianthe[/name], [name]Ariadne[/name], Arachne…)
I love this name. Very cool and unusual and it’s one of the mythological names that doesn’t come up often. [name]Xanthe[/name] is one of the Oceanids, the 3,000 daughters of Titans [name]Oceanus[/name] and Tethys. There was also an Amazon warrior with this name.
[name]Love[/name] it!
Yep, as pp said you pronounce it ‘[name]Zan[/name]-thee’.
This was my almost name, so I have a very soft spot for it, I think its lovely and the pronunciation is fairly intuitive–although I did once hear someone who thought it was ‘Zanth’.
[name]ZAN[/name]-thee. I like it a lot. I’ve never met anyone with this name. I just remember seeing a little [name]Xanthe[/name] dancing on [name]Yo[/name] Gabba Gabba once.
Well my gorgeous 22 month old gdaughter is named [name]Xanthe[/name], pronounced as [name]Zan[/name] thee.
We love the name and it suits her so well and it means fair haired, and from Greek mythology she was supposed to be one of the daughters of [name]Neptune[/name].
