What do you think of [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f]? I like it but I’m worried people will mispronounce it a lot
I am unfamiliar with this name. I would pronounce it [name_u]Zan[/name_u]-thee. I wouldn’t know if it was a girls name or boys name. Sounds mythological? [name_m]Don[/name_m]’t really care for it but that may just be my unfamiliarity.

I love [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f], it was on my own list. I think it’s feisty and funky and I love the quirky X initial.
It seems a perfect unusual but classic choice (at least here in the UK) — I can picture it on any age.
I quite like it, and I know one, so I know that it’s usable I real life. You would have to deal with confusion, but there aren’t that many wrong ways to pronounce it.
I absolutely love it! It’s my no.1 name!
I like it and I also know one. I did pronounce her name wrong at first but it was very minor and I only had to be corrected once.
I love [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f]! It’s one of my top names. I imagine there may be some spelling or pronunciation confusion sometimes because it’s such a rare name, but it’s simple once you know it so I don’t think it would be a huge deal.
Xanthe is cool and elegant! I think people would get used the pronunciation
I adore [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f]! The X might throw people off but I don’t know how else you would pronounce it.
Welcome to the Nameberry community! [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] is one of my very favourite names. I wouldn’t worry about the pronunciation as once you introduce her they know and that is what they will call her. Not a big deal. Otherwise, a person will ask, and done, they know.
Xanthe is near the top of my list- will probably be DD2’s name if we have one
I think it’s one of the those names that might be mispronounced the first time but after being corrected once people will have no trouble remembering
It’s a lovely and distinct, slightly quirky, name. Completely usable. Sure, you may need to help a few people with the pronunciation, or occasionally correct someone, but I wouldn’t let that stop me using it. I have a very common name that people regularly mispronounce, so I accept that as something you live with.
I would pronounce it like Zan th
Xanthe is beautiful. To me it seems clear how to say it. I wouldn’t worry about that too much, I have two simple names and people often misspell and mispronounce them.
I grew up with a [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] (I think she spelled it Xanthie though) so it seems very usable to me. X initial is definitely unexpected and edgy feeling but the name itself sound sweet. As for pronunciation to me there doesn’t seem to be too many ways it could be pronounced, and all it would take would be one correction and I think people would get it.
I like it! Most people will hear her name before seeing it written down. For the ones who do see her name before hearing it, they may pronounce it incorrectly at first, although I personally don’t the pronunciation pretty straightforward, but it’s a simple fix if they get it wrong.
I love [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f]! I think it’s easy enough to pronounce, and it’s become more familiar.
I really like [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f]! I first came across it in a book as a child. [name_m]Even[/name_m] back then, I knew to pronounce it [name_u]Zan[/name_u]-thee.
Even if people do mispronounce it, I think it’s a fairly simple correction. I can think of names that have much more difficult pronunciations.
I love [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f]! It’s full of spark! People mispronounce names all the time (even the simplest ones) and I’m sure they’ll get it right after explanation and some “practice” (if not - they weren’t trying). Use the name if you love it.
It’s very pretty and I love the look and sound of it! [name_f]My[/name_f] only downside would be that [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] makes me think of Xanthan gum, but I don’t want to put anybody off it!
