Yahel

[name_m]Hi[/name_m],

I just found out I’m having a boy and would like to know what you all think of the name Yahel?

Hello! I did a bit of research into this name because I have never heard it before. Of completely separate origins, but it reminds me of a name I love, Karsia.

The meaning of ‘Yahel’, according to Mr. Google, is ‘to build shelter, to shine.’ The name has Hebrew origins. I think that’s lovely! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you speak Hebrew?
[name_m]How[/name_m] would you pronounce this name? I was saying it, and I realised there are multiple ways it could be pronounced. Some parents see this as an issue, but it may not be something that bothers you, personally. As a general rule, I am a big fan of super uncommon names; as long as they aren’t totally stupid sounding to my ear. I do quite like Yahel!

Recently stumbled upon it as well and it just stuck. I was very pleased with both the “ya-hel” and “yah-el” pronunciations, actually quite torn between them as well.

It’s a nice enough name. I prefer the yah-el pronunciation, I think it’d be easier for an English speaker to say as well. Expect some people to pronounce it like [name_u]Yale[/name_u]. I’d assume the parents had Hebrew origins, in which case the name works! It’d be a bit weird if they didn’t though.
