Has anyone else heard of this name or know someone who named their daughter this? I came across it reading a book, and I think it sounds lovely.
It can also be spelled [name]Janina[/name], but I think that may bring up problems with pronunciation. What does the name mean? I love the idea of the nn [name]Nina[/name]. Is [name]Yanina[/name] a form of [name]Jane[/name]? If so, maybe [name]Janie[/name] could work as a nn too.

It reminds me of [name]Yonina[/name], which means dove. But I don’t know if its related to that. I like [name]Nina[/name] as a nickname too.
[name]Yanina[/name], I’m sure, is an international variant of [name]Janine[/name]. In Germany, J is pronounced like Y. [name]Hence[/name] [name]Janine[/name]/[name]Janina[/name] would be pronounced like [name]Yanina[/name], so why not just spell it with a Y rather than a J. [name]Janine[/name] is a French variant of [name]Jane[/name], which means “God’s gracious gift.”
I love the meaning “dove”! “God’s gracious gift” is gorgeous, too. I agree that it would be better spelled with a Y for pronunciation purposes.

I only meant the look reminds me of [name]Yonina[/name], which is probably too obscure to have inspired all that many offshoots. [name]Jane[/name] and its many sister-names are faaaar more popular.
I agree with the pps that it’s probably a form of [name]Janina[/name]/[name]Jane[/name]. I like [name]Yanina[/name] quite a bit–it reminded me of Vanina–which is probably even more obscure, but I went to school with a girl who had this name and I find it to be so beautiful.
